Stone Soup Theatre Presents Michelle Conklin as the New Education Director
Michelle Conklin joined the team of Stone Soup Theatre in Seattle in September as Education Director. She brings 15 years experience as Director of Education for various community programs and is thrilled to be bringing her skills to theatre. Michelle grew up in Baltimore, Maryland and attended the University of Maryland College Park. She received a BA in Theatre from the University. Having been a performer since Elementary School, Michelle has a deep affection for Theatre Arts training for all ages. She firmly believes that the skills gained in theatre at a young age will carry people all through their lives, whether or not they become performers. One of the great joys of this work she says, "Is to see a child come alive by using their voice, their body, and their ideas together."
Michelle has also experienced the importance of theatre education from the role of parent. She lives in Bellevue with her husband and their 5 children ranging in ages 10-20. Each of her children have spent time on the stage in community theatre productions and she knows the importance of a well designed production and curriculum to support children. She is keenly aware of the role parents play and strives to make programs accessible and reliable to fit family life. She believes that theatre can enrich a whole family.
Michelle is thrilled to be part of the Stone Soup and enjoys the opportunity to work the talented Teaching Artists who so lovingly and expertly share their skills with children and youth throughout the area.
