Book of Shadows is a shadow puppet dark comedy and occult mystery for adults, premiering at the Edinburgh Fringe 2026. Teenage sceptic Vi is forced to live with her grandmother, who claims to be the 200-year-old mystic Madam Blavatsky, and when Vi's friends begin to disappear, the two reluctantly team up to uncover a conspiracy of séances, unhinged cultists, and government agents. Written by Daniel Wishes and performed by Wishes and Seri Yanai, the show uses Mochinosha / Book of Shadowz's signature colourful hand-crafted shadow puppets to create live analogue shadow animation. The production is the first chapter of a larger tale exploring the occult and esoteric, told with a pitch-black sense of humour.
