Teatro Luna to Bring Three Plays to Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Begin. 12 August

Featured Topic Edinburgh Festival More Coverage

Teatro Luna is the USA's ONLY All-Latina theatre company dedicated to creating a full season of original devised and single-author work that honors Latina lives and showcases the talents of Latina/Hispana artists. Based in Chicago, Teatro Luna is an award-winning theatre company whose work has been featured in the New York Times, Chicago Tribune, American Theatre Magazine, NBC, Univision, and NPR. Immediately after a rollicking eight week summer tour across the USA, they are appearing at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival for the first time in their thirteen year history with three different shows!

The ladies will play Greenside, 1B Royal Terrace on 12/08/13 - 17/08/13 @ 23:10 (50 mins - Luna Unlaced); 19/08/13 - 24/08/13 @ 19:40 (1 hr 45 mins - Your Problem with Men + Luna Unlaced - 2 shows - double slot!). Tickets are £10 (12/08/13 - 17/08/13); £15 (19/08/13 - 24/08/13). The cast features Amanda de la Guardia, Maya Malan-Gonzalez, Miguel Septién, Abigail Vega, and is directed bu Alexandra Meda.

Catch the UK Premiere that builds on the recent success of the Chicago World Premiere of this ambitious new play: YOUR PROBLEM WITH MEN by Emilio Williams pairs hilarious absurdism with Teatro Luna's fearless women for a 65 minute madcap comedy. Asun, an American Latina in an Abercrombie world, breaks off her wedding engagement because the question wasn't popped the way she always dreamed - only to be slapped with the dark truth of her loneliness and regret. An emotional rollercoaster that electrifies and torments, Your Problem With Men dissects the contemporary woman's expectations in a culture clinging to last century's visions of love and marriage.

Don't miss the show that toured to 16 cities across the US this summer: with LUNA UNLACED, A Choose Your Own Adventure Play, the ladies of Luna give you a chance to decide the show live from moment to moment! Using monologues, songs, scenes and poetry, they delve into a whole slew of issues ranging from sexuality, latinidad, adventures in immigrant story archives, racist encounters, and the sometimes self-induced drama that makes up their lives as Latinas in the USA. The idea is simple: they've picked twenty of their favorite pieces from the past seven years, and through a series of random draws, Twitter battles and latina trivia, the audience picks the nine pieces they want to see. The show is different every night, and the actors are as surprised as the audience. Anything can happen with the Ladies of Luna!

In GENERATION SEX, Luna bares all without blushing as they dive into how technology impacts our sex lives. From sexting to Skype to online dating, catch a first glimpse of Teatro Luna's work-in-progress as they test drive their newest scenes, stories, and musical numbers, then stick around and tell us what you think in the interactive post-show discussion and story-collecting workshop. Your ideas might end up on stage!
