Ima Iduozee in Association with From Start to Finnish Presents THIS IS THE TITLE

By:

Ima Iduozee in Association with From Start to Finnish Presents THIS IS THE TITLE ImageOn a blindingly white dance floor, Ima Iduozee revisits his debut solo, questioning the relation between our individual choices, the norms set by our environment and the boundaries that we ourselves build. The recipient of the Finnish Critics' Spurs award in 2015, Iduozee's background in both breakdance, contemporary techniques and physical theatre informs his distinctive approach to movement. Subtle lighting and sound design complete the minimalist landscape, where the power and grace of the performer captivates the imagination and senses.

Ima Iduozee said, "The work was inspired by a need to embark on a choreographic language of my own. After it´s premier in 2012, This is the Title still remains as my signature work and international visiting card. It´s a reflection on my early choreographic language, but it has also taken on a life of its own, redefining itself, evolving and maturing as the work gets older."

Ima Iduozee is an independent choreographer and performer born in Helsinki, Finland. His latest work, Garden of Eden, premiered in August 2017 at URB-festival in Helsinki. This is the Title was Iduozee´s debut solo, and premiered in 2012 with acclaim from both critics and audiences. The work has toured to 14 countries across Europe, Asian and North America. Earlier commissions include works for the Stockholm City Theatre, Helsinki City Theatre and the National Theatre of Finland. In 2015 Iduozee won the Critics' Spurs award, the annual honorary prize of the Finnish Critics Association given in acknowledgement for the best artistic breakthrough of the year in any creative field.

From Start to Finnish is an annual showcase presented at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe that represents the best in Finnish performing arts. Now in its eighth year, From Start to Finnish 2018 will also feature Cock, Cock...Who's There?, The Sauna and All the Lights Are On at Summerhall, The Artist at Assembly Roxy and Wiredo at C South. From Start to Finnish productions have received critical acclaim in Edinburgh and gone on to tour China, America and several countries in Europe.
