Glasgow International Comedy Festival Q&A: Eleanor Morton

Glasgow International Comedy Festival Q&A: Eleanor Morton Image

Tell us a bit about your show.

It's hilarious, depending on your sense of humour. At the moment it's sort of about feeling left behind by the other grown-ups I know.

It's a work in progress so it won't be beautifully polished but it'll mostly be nonsense, jokes and maybe some freestyle rap if I feel like it. It's something like my 5th time doing GICF and I always have a lovely time, so I hope people come back and help me shape this monstrosity into a semblance of a show.

Do you have any top tips for anything else visitors should do while in Glasgow?

I love the Kelvingrove and the Transport Museum because I'm a big old nerd. And in March the Botanics are lovely. And since I'm clearly 75, you should round off the day with a visit to the Willow Tea Rooms.

Who would you recommend comes to see you at the festival?

Anyone who's a fan of alternative comedy and having a right old laugh.

And who would you suggest maybe doesn't?

Anyone who has not bought a ticket; they will not be admitted.

What sets your show apart from others in the programme?

It's on at a different time and location.

I suppose you could call it 'nerdy surrealism'. I dunno, that's a hard question - we're all bipeds doing an hour of comedy. I like to think its insightful, clever nonsense comedy, so if you like that, come.

It's part of ARG fest and they're bringing some great people to Glasgow, I'm excited to see everyone else.

What's next for you after the Glasgow International Comedy Festival?

Doing this show again and again until time runs out and I have to perform it at the Edinburgh Fringe. Also doing some writing for The News Quiz and performing at Mach festival in May.
