Tell us a bit about Dyergnosis Murder.
Dyergnosis Murder is a silly and surreal murder mystery. It's definitely the most fun show I've done. The other day at a preview a woman was almost hyperventilating with laughter saying she didn't have a clue what was happening... I'm still yet to work out if that's a good thing or a bad thing. Yeah, I guess the show doesn't make a lot of sense. In it I've become a detective, a murder occurs. There's tentacles, badgers and a whole heap of tomfoolery.
What have you been up to since last years festival?
Ooh i've done lots of things. I did some stand-up about bipolar for BBC Ouch and it ended up being the second most popular thing to occur on BBC News "most watched" at one point. "Second to what Harriet?" Only James Corden's Carpool Karaoke with Take That. I'll bloody take them apples pal.
I've also started a weekly podcast called, 'Don't Worry, Bi (polar) Happy.' Because I have bipolar I wanted to encourage myself to have more ups than downs so it's where I find three bits of good in the world each week and about those I do so chatter.
What sets Dyergnosis Murder apart from other shows at the Fringe?
My show isn't swamped up in Fringe bullshit. I've not sent out any press releases, I'm not fussed about industry coming, all of that is so anxiety filled. I just want audiences that'd be at any other show in the country to come see it and think, "What a great hour i've just spent." I've come up with something silly that I think is hilarious... in places... hopefully in all the places once all my previews are done. There's no other agenda behind it and I think that's less and less to come by these days at the fringe.
Who would you recommend comes to see you?
People that'll openly embrace a silly idiot.
..and who would you recommend maybe doesn't?
Fans of Jim Davidson.
