EDINBURGH 2017: BWW Q&A- Aatif Nawaz

Tell us a bit about The Last Laugh.
It's my latest comedy show - my story of breaking out of a maximum security prison and coming out clean the other side. No wait...that's The Shawshank Redemption. This one is just jokes and stories about my now 10 year career as a stand-up comic.
Why bring it to Edinburgh?
To be honest my first choice was the Lahore Fringe in Pakistan. But I missed the deadline. (That's a joke...stop googling it...not a real thing...yet...) Edinburgh audiences know comedy. You can tell right away if you're onto a winner. I had so much fun with my last two shows, it massively helped my career. But I've still got a long way to go and hence...back again for another Fringe. Some might say 3 Fringes in a row is too many. But I'm hoping to prove them wrong and have...The Last Laugh.
What sets it apart from other shows at the Fringe?
It's got me in it. Me! Aatif Nawaz. THE Aatif Nawaz. For realsies though, it's not that different. Just a good, fun hour of stand-up. Jokes and stories to send you home happy. It's a late night show, so might be the last of many days. And hence my show would give the what might literally be The Last Laugh.
What are your top tips for surviving the festival?
Eat healthy. Walk a lot. Take loads of flyers. Know where your nearest recycle bin is. But go see loads of shows. Mix it up. See different styles of comedy. See people you've never seen before. Keep cash handy - even for the free shows. And make sure you have The Last Laugh.
Who would you recommend comes to see you?
A lot of people who've never seen any stand-up comedy live before make mine the first show they see. Which is a privilege and a half. I spent a lot of time writing this show. It's really personal, packed full of jokes and stories. And I feel like I'm on top of my game. So come see my show...if you want to have The Last Laugh.
