EDINBURGH 2016: BWW Q&A - Yeti's Demon Dive Bar

BWW speaks to the creators of Yeti's Demon Dive Bar ahead of their 2016 Edinburgh Fringe run.

This is the first time Yeti's has come to Edinburgh but how long have you been performing as the musical sketch group?

We are so excited to be bringing Yeti's to Edinburgh! We have been performing together for the past six years, but this show is definitely different to anything we have done before. Our past EastEnd Cabaret shows were more song-heavy, whereas with Yeti's we play with lots of characters, sketch and musical comedy - it's strange and surreal and funny as hell.

How would you describe Yeti's?

The show is a night set in the strangest little dive bar in town that just happens to be run by a yeti. The characters you meet are all the weird and wonderful people you find in such a place - some bands that are performing there, some of the staff and of course Yeti's best friend Johnny, the severed head. You will walk out of the show not quite sure whether it really happened, or whether it's just the tequila talking.

Are there any other shows you're hoping to catch in Edinburgh?

So many! Dead Man, the independent comedy label we are with has a load of great shows- Tessa Waters, Zach & Viggo and Tom Walker, all super exciting punk comedy that pushes boundaries.

The audience participation is fairly terrifying for East End Cabaret - does the same go for Yeti's?

It's not "audience participation" as such - that phrase is pretty scary in itself - but sometimes a character might wander into the crowd to get to know them. Yeti especially has found that EVERYONE wants to have a little stroke of her mops.

Who would you recommend your show to?

The dive bar is a pretty welcoming place - particularly for anyone who enjoys the surreal, the weird and the hilarious!

Timings and ticket information for Yeti's Demon Dive Bar are available on the edfringe website.
