EDINBURGH 2015 - BWW Reviews: USHERS, Momentum Grand, August 9 2015
Ushers is the Off-West End hit that focuses on the lives of the front of house theatre staff.
As someone who spends a lot of time in a theatre, I really loved how relatable Ushers is. The references throughout are brilliant such as big theatre boss "Andrew Lloyd Mackintosser" and one of my favourite lines: "If it looked any cheaper, Bill Kenwright would be touring it."
The songs are fantastic, a particular highlight for me was the Chicago-esque number Leading Men. The script is hilarious and the plot is fantastic.
The venue Momentum Grand is one that hasn't been used for a few years. It is quite a distance from the centre of the Fringe madness and it would be a real shame if the location affected attendance. The night I went was pretty quiet. Although it is a bit of a walk, the venue is beautiful and the sound quality is excellent. My only gripe about the show was that the edfringe programme has a slightly shorter run time. When you're planning back-to-back shows this can be a bit of an issue.
The music is great, the cast are amazing - I really cannot recommend this show enough!
Ticket information for Ushers is on the edfringe website.
