EDINBURGH 2013 - BWW Reviews: DAVID MORGAN, Underbelly, August 12 2013

David Morgan starts with asking the audience if they think they are pretty. A smug and average looking couple on the front row raise their hands whilst everyone else just looks at the floor. With his good nature, Morgan doesn't mock the confident couple and this sets the tone for the show. He wants us to examine the idea of being 'pretty' and our romantic relationships, something that he has done ever since a boyfriend at university dumped him for not being attractive anymore (he is hot BTW!).

Morgan is charming as he recounts stories of being a wingman to a heterosexual (because they are useless at pulling), his family's acceptance of his sexuality (his father now campaigns for gay rights by insisting they stock Gay Times at his local paper shop) and the time when he was voted into Heat magazine's hot new men list of 2012 but photoshopped his own photo (I would have like to have seen the before version).

Racing through anecdotes about his friends' relationships and his own, Morgan has a personable style and interacts well with the audience. Some of his stories will resonate, especially if you partake in internet dating.

He is memorable for his hair (which underwent a restyle once Jedward cornered the quiff market) but more so his comedy, I will definitely look out for his next show.
