SARTA Begins Casting for 2012 Shows

By:

The Sacramento Area Regional Theatre Alliance upcoming shows include THE DANCE ON WIDOWS ROW and SOAP SOLUTIONS.

THE DANCE ON WIDOWS ROW by Samm-Art Williams is about four women, all widows, live on the same street, which has been dubbed Widow's Row. It is well known that each has buried several husbands. The ladies have decided to have a party and invite several prominent unmarried men in hopes of snaring them. All roles (all African-American) available. There is a fun loving person inside who wants to burst forth.

The audition will consist of readings from the script. However, presentation of a monologue is quite helpful in accessing the actor's skill. Rehearsals will begin as soon as the show is cast.

The play opens February 3 and run Thursday through Sunday, through March 10, 2012, for a total of 21 performances.

Call (916)-455-2787 for additional informationto request an appointment to audition at:
Celebration Arts 4469 D Street Sacramento, CA.

SOAP SOLUTION is a fast-paced farce, requiring the soap opera actors to be totally sincere in their "over the top" story. Larry King thinks he's washed up as a writer. His wife recently left him in an attempt to shake him out of his depression. Now he's gone to a mountain cabin for a few weeks of peace and quiet and crossword puzzles. His wife, however, has other plans for him. She's hired some actors who've done bit parts on several soap operas. Her plan is for them to get him caught up in a crazy story they have concocted based on their experiences in the soaps. Keeping him confused is their objective and they seem to succeed for a while with situations that range from a potential suicide to a potential sexual orgy. Just when the wife thinks they've succeeded in rattling his cage, he turns the tables on them and (with a little help from the actors) convinces his wife that her plan may have gone awry.

To schedule an audition or get other information, actors may call the theater at (916) 332-2582 or email either mzmr@surewest.net or admin@ardenplayhouse.com. Deadline to schedule an audition is Dec. 28. 5640 Roseville Road, Ste. D, Sacramento, CA 95842. Actors should bring a resume and headshot helpful but not essential; auditions are cold reading from script. Rehearsals begin week of 23 January, typically Monday through Thursday at 7pm with additional rehearsals as needed. The part of Larry King has been cast.

The show opens on Friday, March 9 and runs thru April 21 on Friday and Saturday nights at 8pm with Sunday matinees at 2pm on March 18 and April 21.
