2nd Story Theatre Presents THE VOYSEY INHERITANCE 3/12-4/11

By: Mar. 12, 2010

Bernie Madoff's got nothing on the Voyseys! In David Mamet's award-winning adaptation of Harley Granville-Barker's gripping drama, Edward Voysey not only inherits his family business but the malpractice of cheating clients to keep the business solvent. Faced with the threat of exposure, Edward's sense of right and wrong is challenged as his family's wealthy life-style faces ruin. It's an Edwardian-era Ponzi scheme with a modern moral dilemma.

"David Mamet writes about business like no one's business. And the combination of his incisive view of the world of finance and Harley Granville-Barker's intuitive knowledge of a family on the brink, makes a perfect pairing," says director Ed Shea. "It's a taut, tense and fascinating look at high finance that rivals the best of Lillian Hellman."

2nd Story Theatre is partially funded by the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts.
