About the Album: ALO is the result of a musical partnership between keyboardist Zach Gill, guitarist Dan Lebowitz, and bassist Steve Adams, that began in a Santa Barbara middle school more than 14 years ago. Since then the three have formed the core of several different bands. Since moving to San Francisco in 1998, the trio has been performing as Animal Liberation Orchestra, shortened to ALO in 2002 when they hired drummer Adam Goodhue and began a nonstop national tour. ALO's music is known for its balance of supercharged dance grooves and brilliant, often quirky songwriting. Steeped in the legacy of down-and-dirty funk, ALO offers a musical vision which draws on an astounding array of influences, from trance to reggae, bluegrass to booty-beat, psych-out to soul. The group's live concerts, best described as a kind of jam-band vaudeville show, feature special effects, comic skits and the group's own spell-binding improvisations to draw unsuspecting audiences together into a riotous, rapturous dance floor frenzy. ALO enjoys a nationwide reputation for peerless musicianship and top-notch entertainment. Come experience ALO, and become devoted to its one-of-a-kind musical vision.
