New York's leading LGBTQ film festival, NewFest, has announced the full lineup of their 31st annual celebration of the year's best LGBTQ films from around the world. As announced earlier this week, the festival will kick off the festival's 31st edition with the New York premiere of Mike Doyle's Manhattan-set ensemble rom-com SELL BY, featuring an eclectic cast including Scott Evans (Netflix's “Grace and Frankie”), Kate Walsh (ABC's “Grey's Anatomy”), Academy Award-nominee and Emmy Award-winner Patricia Clarkson, Michelle Buteau (Netflix's “Tales of the City”) and Augustus Prew (HIGH-RISE), and will close the festival with the New York premiere of Rodrigo Bellott's award-winning film TU ME MANQUES, which was recently announced as Bolivia's submission for Best International Feature Film selection for the 2019 Academy Awards.

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts has today announced the nine finalists for the 2019 BAFTA Student Film Awards presented by Global Student Accommodation (GSA). Following a record number of submissions for this year's Awards, the finalists have been selected from over 550 submissions by students at film schools in 38 countries across the world, including the U.K., the U.S., France, Germany, Australia, China, Switzerland, Estonia, Brazil, Norway, Mexico, Israel, India, Pakistan, South Korea, Chile, Uruguay, Finland, The Netherlands, Portugal and more.

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts has today announced the shortlist for the 2019 BAFTA Student Film Awards presented by Global Student Accommodation (GSA). For the first time, BAFTA and GSA will also award a USD 12,000 commissioning grant to student projects on the topic of wellbeing. Those eligible for the grant include those shortlisted for the BAFTA Student Film Awards, as well as participants of BAFTA's New Talent Initiatives (Newcomers, Scholars and Alumni).

Local favorite Leipono kick us off on May Day, followed by Kuana Torres Kahele in his tribute to the island of Maui featuring Amy Hanaiali'i. Mike Lewis & Friends promise to bring the house down in a tribute to the music of Prince featuring sultry songstress Ginai. There's a night of Hawaii Jazz All Stars with Josh Kaye and Mike Lewis, welcoming some of the island's best jazz musicians. The Island 98.5 Rocksteady Reggae Series continues this month with the formidable Wailing Souls and The Wailers. Celebrate Mother's Day weekend with ukulele master Jake Shimabukuro, and the incomparable Willie K returns to the stage. Musical tributes this month from Mike Lewis & Friends include Thelonious Monk, Chuck Mangione, Chet Baker and Sade and Josh Kaye & Friends will pay homage to the great Aretha Franklin featuring vocalist Sherry Graham. Jamaica Bobsled Foundation Launches Official Team Song RUN THE TRACK, IT'S BOBSLED TIME

The Jamaica Bobsled Foundation (JBF) has announced the release of 'Run The Track, It's Bobsled Time' - an officially sanctioned team song to raise funds and awareness to benefit the ultimate underdogs - the athletes who compete in the sport of bobsledding and skeleton in the Winter Olympics for the country of Jamaica. The dancehall pop anthem is available globally on all download and streaming services just in time for the 2018 Winter Olympic Games in PyeongChang, which marks the Olympic debut of the Jamaica women's bobsled team and skeleton athlete, coincides with the 30th anniversary of the original Jamaica Bobsled team's Olympic run and the 25th anniversary of the iconic film 'Cool Runnings.' Proceeds from the track and video will benefit Jamaica Bobsled Foundation, who teamed up with music supervision company Groove Guild to create the track and companion music video. The video features Jamaican dancehall crew Ravers Clavers who choreographed and performed a new dance called the Bobsled Slide.
