Burning Coal Goes Back to School With Education Outreach

By: Aug. 24, 2011

With the start of a new school year, Burning Coal's Education Outreach programs are heading back to Triangle area schools for a busy September, and an exciting year.

Burning Coal will be kicking off its new season of outreach programs at Raleigh Charter High School, assisting with their fall musical revue. The performance will take place October 20-22, 2011. Education outreach will continue at Middle Creek High School, with Education Director Ian Finley directing a production of Jean Anouilh's Ring Round the Moon. The performance will take place November 3-5, 2011.

Submission information for the 2012 Kidswrite Playwriting Festival will also be released in September. Plays by middle and high school students across the greater Triangle area will be accepted between September and March to be considered for publication and professional production as part of the festival in the spring.

Finally, Ian Finley's playwriting & screenwriting class, "Developing Your Script," begins September 19. The 8-week class will explore the tools to turn a great start into a finished product. The class will be held Mondays at 6:30-9:30pm at the Murphey School Auditorium.
