Freeform announced today that principal photography began yesterday on the 'Motherland' (working title) pilot, a one-hour drama from executive producers Will Ferrell, Adam McKay and Kevin Messick. The pilot, created by Eliot Laurence ('Claws'), has started in Vancouver, Canada. Set in an alternate America where witches ended their persecution 300 years ago by cutting a deal with the U.S. government to fight for their country, 'Motherland' (working title) follows three young women from basic training in combat magic into early deployment at Fort Salem.

SHOWTIME has ordered a new pilot NOW WHAT WITH AMANDA DE CADENET (working title), for a half-hour weekly news-magazine format created and hosted by Amanda de Cadenet (The Conversation with Amanda de Cadenet). The show takes a thematic approach exploring America's current social, sexual, cultural and political issues, seen through de Cadenet's sharp, feminist lens. Emmy® nominee Inuka Bacote (Eastsiders), and Danielle Oexmann (Vice Does America) will serve as co-showrunners. The announcement was made today by Gary Levine, President of Programming, Showtime Networks.

Nickelodeon today announced it has greenlit 20 episodes of Los Casagrandes (working title), a spinoff of animated hit The Loud House. Los Casagrandes follows Lincoln Loud's friend Ronnie Anne and her extended family, the Casagrandes, living together in the big city and exploring the endless possibilities urban life has to offer. The greenlight comes on the heels of a successful premiere week of The Loud House, ranking as the number one show across television with Kids 2-11 and Kids 6-11 (6/25/18-6/28/18).

Halo, the award-winning and record-shattering series of video games, is bringing its universe to SHOWTIME. The network has ordered a 10-episode season of the live-action, scripted drama HALO (working title), based on the hallowed Xbox® franchise, with Kyle Killen (Awake) serving as executive producer, writer and showrunner. Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) will direct multiple episodes and also executive produce the hour-long series. Produced by SHOWTIME in association with Microsoft/343 Industries, along with Steven Spielberg's Amblin Television, HALO will begin production in early 2019. The announcement was made today by David Nevins, President and CEO, Showtime Networks Inc.
