LUCKY GUY Box Office Opens Tomorrow, Jan 25

The Broadhurst Theatre box office opens tomorrow, Friday, January 25 at 10:00 AM for LUCKY GUY, starring two-time Academy Award-winner Tom Hanks, in the final work by three-time Academy Award-nominee Nora Ephron and directed by two-time Tony Award-winner George C. Wolfe. The Broadhurst Theatre is located at 235 West 44th Street. The production will play a strictly limited engagement. Opening night is Monday, April 1. Previews begin Friday, March 1.

Ars Nova's THE NETFLIX PLAYS to Begin, Jan 30

Ars Nova kicks off its 2013 season with The Netflix Plays, which begins performances January 30. This production, the newest installment from Ars Nova's Play Group, is set to play 10 performances from January 30 - February 9. The Netflix Plays, this year's incarnation of Ars Nova's annual Play Group production, features original short plays and live music inspired by the recommendation categories on the Netflix website.

Barrington Stage Announces Casting for 10x10 New Play Festival, 2/14-3/3

Barrington Stage Company (BSC), under the leadership of Julianne Boyd, Artistic Director, and Tristan Wilson, Managing Director, has announced casting for its 10×10 New Play Festival February 14 through March 3, part of the 2013 10×10 Upstreet Arts Festival.

Steve Alpert and Ken Greiner in association with Slant Theatre Project present the world-premiere of THE STEADFAST, Mat Smart's gripping new play that looks at eight U.S. soldiers across the sweep of American history - from the Revolutionary War to the War in Afghanistan - and The Common thread that connects them across continents and centuries. THE STEADFAST is inspired by Mr. Alpert's Legacy painting. Preview performances of THE STEADFAST began January 20 prior to an official press opening of January 23 at TBG Theatre (312 West 36th Street) in Manhattan. 35 Writers Head to Goodspeed Musicals' First-Ever Musical Theatre Writers Colony

A total of 35 established and emerging writers, composers and lyricists will converge on the Goodspeed campus this month to participate in the first-ever Johnny Mercer Writers Colony at Goodspeed Musicals. The writing teams, representing more than twenty new musicals, will populate the campus, creating a truly exciting environment for discovery and inspiration.

Peter and the Starcatcher, the five-time Tony Award-winning play by Tony Award-nominee Rick Elice, will play its final Broadway performance today, January 20, 2013, ending its nearly year-long run. Directed by Tony Award-winner Roger Rees and Tony Award-nominee Alex Timbers, Peter and the Starcatcher began performances on March 28, 2012, and opened April 15, 2012, and is playing at Broadway's Brooks Atkinson Theatre. Before the production lands in its new home at off-Broadway's New World Stages this March, BroadwayWorld takes you on a journey through Starcatcher's beginnings (and ending) on Broadway!

Jane Kaczmarek, Gregory Harrison and Diane Cary Star in Indie Chi Productions' THE SNAKE CAN, Now thru 2/24

Welcome to middle age... proceed with caution! Diane Cary, Jane Kaczmarek and Sharon Sharth star as three successful women who challenge themselves to find love and personal fulfillment in the middle years of life. Steven Robman directs the ensemble cast, which also includes Gregory Harrison, James Lancaster and Joel Polis, in the world premiere of The Snake Can by Kathryn Graf (Hermetically Sealed). Performances run tonight, January 19 through February 24, presented by Indie Chi Productions at the Odyssey Theatre in West Los Angeles.

Nicholas Martin Named Associate Artist of The Old Globe

The Old Globe today named director Nicholas Martin an Associate Artist of The Old Globe. He is the 56th artist to receive the prestigious honor recognizing over half a century of his unique contributions to the institution both on and offstage. After making his acting debut in 1957 as the Fool in King Lear, Martin went on to appear on the Globe stage in 18 additional productions, including The Merry Wives of Windsor (1965), The School for Scandal (1989) and Hamlet (1960 and 1990). As a director, he helmed the Globe productions of Later Life, Full Gallop, Overtime, Macbeth and The Mask of Moriarty. The Old Globe is currently celebrating the 100th anniversary of George Bernard Shaw's Pygmalion with Martin's production of Shaw's masterwork, which runs through Feb. 17. THE PIECE PROJECT and CELEBRATION THEATRE present an exclusive Los Angeles reading of Theresa Rebeck's SPIKE HEELS on Monday, January 28, 2013 at 8pm. Founded by Devon Gummersall and Andrew Carlberg, THE PIECE PROJECT is a celebrity-based theater ensemble. Deadline reports that two-time Tony Award winning actress Katie Finneran has joined the cast of Michael J. Fox's upcoming NBC comedy series. The show, which is scheduled to premiere in the fall, has received a 22-episode order from the network.

Actress Kate Burton to Receive 2013 Pell Lifetime Achievement Award; Ceremony Set for 6/10

Trinity Repertory Company announced today that celebrated stage and screen actor Kate Burton will be honored with the 2013 Pell Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Arts at the 17th annual Pell Awards to be held on Monday, June 10, 2013 at Trinity Rep. The annual fundraising event will be co-chaired by Joe & Michele Madden and Elizabeth 'Beppie' Huidekoper. Mrs. Nuala Pell will serve as the event's honorary chair.
