The three week WORLD STAGES: International Theater Festival 2014 besides presenting wonderful performances, also has a variety of wonderful installations throughout the Kennedy Center during the Festival which runs until March 30, 2014. All of these are FREE.
The world premiere production of the brand new musical comedy Bullets Over Broadway, written by Woody Allen and based on the screenplay by Allen and Douglas McGrath for the 1994 film, will begin preview performances tomorrow, March 11 and officially open Thursday, April 10, 2014 at The St. James Theatre (246 West 44th Street). Rattlestick Playwrights Theater's Artistic Director David Van Asselt and Managing Director Brian Long present the world premiere of Ode to Joy, written and directed by Craig Lucas, which just opened last night at the Cherry Lane Theatre, 38 Commerce Street. The cast features Kathryn Erbe ('Law & Order: Criminal Intent'), Roxanna Hope (Frost/Nixon) and Arliss Howard (Moneyball, Natural Born Killers). Producers David Mirvish and Barry & Fran Weissler just announced that the Tony Award-winning Best Musical TITANIC, with music and lyrics by Maury Yeston and book by Peter Stone, will finally have its Canadian premiere in a brand new production directed by Thom Southerland. TITANIC will play a six-week engagement at the Royal Alexandra Theatre in Toronto, from July 22 through August 31. TITANIC will then berth on Broadway in the Fall of 2014.
Original Titanic Broadway cast member Drew McVety will again set sail in the Tony Award-winning musical, which begins performances at WBT tonight, January 16. The production, which is a new intimate adaptation of Maury Yeston and Peter Stone's lushly scored musical about the doomed ocean liner, will run through February 23rd.
Today, Noreen Taylor, prize founder and chair of the Charles Taylor Foundation announced the 2014 RBC Taylor Prize Shortlist before a breathless, standing-room-only crowd of publishers and journalists. The following five shortlisted books were culled from 12 titles on the RBC Taylor Prize Longlist which was released in December. The longlist was selected from 124 Canadian-authored non-fiction books submitted to this year's Prize by 45 publishers in 2013.

New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) will host a one-night-only staged reading of the hit off-Broadway play, UNNATURAL ACTS, to benefit The Trevor Project on Monday, January 27, 2014. The special event will be held at 7pm at NYTW (79 East Fourth Street, between Bowery & Second Avenue) and will feature the entire original off-Broadway cast. A brief panel discussion to follow.
