Silverado Records, an independent Country music record label, today announced the signing of recording artist Melissa Mickelson of Oregon.

The nonprofit AT&T Performing Arts Center announced today that tickets for American singer, songwriter, musician and actor Kris Kristofferson will go on sale Saturday, August 27 at 10 a.m. Kris Kristofferson will perform at 9:30 p.m. Friday, October 14, 2016 at Strauss Square in the downtown Dallas Arts District.

Billy Bob Thornton - yes, that Billy Bob Thornton - performs on Stage One of the Harris Center with his American country rock/rockabilly band The Boxmasters, a group of seasoned musicians whose music is rich in rhythm and story. They're the real deal: their third album Modbilly reached #1 on the Americana Radio Chart and #14 on the Americana Music Association's Top 100 Albums of the Year, and they've toured as Willie Nelson's opening act. "They're working in the tradition of musical mavericks Waylon Jennings, Kris Kristofferson and Johnny Cash, surveying the world for stories of ordinary people" (Los Angeles Times). Onstage, "the group shifts seamlessly between Nuggets-type garage rock and country-inflected ballads, with Thornton prefacing the songs with alternatingly poignant and outrageous stories" (Rolling Stone).

Edie Brickell has just collaborated with Steve Martin (Bright Star)... and now the popular Texas-by-way-of-Nashville Americana artist Kevin Welch is collaborating with a Chicago playwright (L.C. Bernadine) on a new musical called WILL THE CIRCLE, which debuts August 20th as part of this year's Chicago Music Theatre Festival at Victory Gardens Theatre.

The Indiana troubadour wanted to do something not only different from his own previous work, but unlike anything else happening in the realm of country and Americana. Between The Moon And The Midwest marries traditional and cosmic country sounds with sharp, vivid storytelling in a fully realized concept album.

The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum will unveil American Sound and Beauty: Guitars from the Bachman-Gretsch Collection this Friday, Jan. 15, 2016.
