The New York Musical Festival (NYMF), previously known as The New York Musical Theater Festival, will honor Tony and Grammy Award winning composer and lyricist Duncan Sheik, Casting Director Tara Rubin, and former NYMF Board Member and Treasurer Frank Troutman at its 2016 Gala hosted by Mo Rocca on Sunday, November 13 at the Edison Ballroom in Midtown Manhattan (240 W 47th St, New York, NY 10036).

Actors' Equity Association (Equity) today named Hamilton, Spring Awakening and Waitress the co-recipients of the Extraordinary Excellence in Diversity on Broadway Award for the 2015-16 theatrical season.

    Since the beginning of time, humans have had the ability to express love without using verbal skills. This weekend, July 16th and 17th, Pepsi is hosting an interactive exhibit displaying all of the ways we have silently communicated our love, entitled “Love: From Cave to Keyboard”. It used to be drawings of hearts on the side of a cave, then later people used Morse Code and flag semaphore , and now we have hundreds of emojis.

Treshelle Edmond, who made her Broadway debut as Martha in this season's revival of SPRING AWAKENING, performed 'I'm Here' from THE COLOR PURPLE, another musical that was revived this season. Edmond, a deaf actress, performed the song in American Sign Language. Watch her gorgeous interpretation below!

/LADY GAGA will sing the National Anthem as part of Super Bowl 50 pregame festivities at Levi's Stadium in the San Francisco Bay Area on Sunday, February 7, the NFL and CBS announced today. The performance will be televised live on CBS prior to kickoff.

Deaf West Theatre's acclaimed Broadway production of SPRING AWAKENING closes today, Sunday, January 24 after 129 performances. The production will have life after Broadway, however, with a national tour scheduled to launch in 2017.

BroadwayWorld has learned that due to prior commitments, Marlee Matlin and Camryn Manheim will play their final performances in Deaf West Theatre's Broadway production of SPRING AWAKENING on January 10, 2016. Their roles will be filled by Alexandria Wailes and Elizabeth Greene, respectively, and the show will close on January 24 as scheduled.
