Building on 40 years of producing powerful contemporary theatre, Studio Theatre is pleased to announce a new class of commissioned playwrights and directors to Studio R&D, its incubator to support the creation of new work from inception to first production. Incoming Studio R&D artists are playwrights James Fritz, James Ijames, Steph Del Rosso, and Emily Schwend, as well as directors Carl Cofield, Lila Neugebauer, and Eric Ruffin. These exciting talents from the US and UK will have Studio's full support in creating aesthetically diverse new work to be presented in future seasons and introduced into the international repertoire. As they create Studio-specific works, commissioned artists will visit Studio to get to know its theatres, programming, and audiences in person.

On January 10th, A.R.T./NY named Boundless Theatre Company (Maria-Cristina Fuste, Executive Artistic Director) one of the 2019 recipients of the Edith Lutyens and Norman Bel Geddes Design Enhancement Fund Grant! This grant was awarded to enhance the design of Boundless' upcoming production of Fur by Migdalia Cruz, directed by Elena Araoz. Three women designers of color - costume designer Sarita Fellows, scenic designer Regina Garcia, and lighting designer Maria-Cristina Fuste - will use the grant funding to more fully realize their artistic vision for the production.

Their work will conclude with a staged reading of the musical at 7:30pm on Saturday, January 19 in the Gladys G. Davis Theatre (WVU Creative Arts Center) in Morgantown. Dear Readers, it has been one crazy year with some amazing theater. You know it's true. We've had dead teens riding a roller coaster, demonic puppets, and an ageless guy with a picture of himself in his attic. And, of course, a hip-hop founding father sweeping through town.
