Producers Whoopi Goldberg and Stage Entertainment have announced that Tony Award-winner Victoria Clark will co-star as Mother Superior in the new Broadway musical, SISTER ACT, beginning preview performances on March 24, 2011 and opening on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at the Broadway Theatre (1681 Broadway). As previously announced, Olivier Award nominee Patina Miller will reprise her critically acclaimed performance as Deloris Van Cartier, which she originated in the West End production of SISTER ACT.

The Metropolitan Opera's new production of Mussorgsky's Boris Godunov starring René Pape as Boris and conducted by Valery Gergiev, will air on THIRTEEN's Great Performances Sunday, February 13 at 12 p.m. ET on PBS (check local listings). (In New York, THIRTEEN will air the program Thursday, February 10 at 8 p.m. ET.) Stephen Wadsworth directs the company's first new production of the opera since 1974. The program was originally seen live in movie theaters on October 23, 2010 as part of the groundbreaking The Met: Live in HD series, which transmits live performances to more than 1500 movie theaters and performing arts centers in 46 countries around the world.

This January, the Touchstone Ensemble will be joined by Moravian College students, local theatre artists, and Bethlehem community members for a public reading of Bill George's new play, The Whitman Piece.
Fresh Voices returns to Touchstone Theatre on February 18 & 19, 2011. This annual showcase is a celebration of new theatre featuring original works-in-progress by the 2010-2011 Touchstone Apprentices, Mariel Iezzoni and Anne Losq. Subtitled 'The Matter of Moments', the evening is composed of three theatrical 'moments' with each apprentice contributing a solo performance and collaborating on a third ensemble piece.
KVPAC's Encore Players are currently in rehearsal with the transcendently powerful new adaptation by Wendy Kesselman of The Diary of Anne Frank from the original stage play by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett. Directed by Tina Morille, this Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning play will run two weekends, February 11-13 and 18-20, 2011. All shows will begin at 8:00pm, except for Sunday's performances which are matinees and will begin at 2:00pm.

Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST) rings in the New Year with William Shakespeare's romantic comedy As You Like It, staged by CST's Associate Artistic Director Gary Griffin. The acting company for Griffin's lush production includes a host of Chicago Shakespeare favorites who have collectively performed over 100 roles at CST. Among the returning cast members are Kate Fry, performing the role of Rosalind in her seventh appearance at CST; Chaon Cross as Celia in her sixth CST appearance; Matt Schwader as Orlando in his ninth appearance; Phillip James Brannon as Touchstone in his fourth appearance; and longtime collaborators Ross Lehman as Jaques and Kevin Gudahl as Duke Senior, who return to CST to perform their respective 13th and 27th roles. NASCAR's youngest multi-team owner Michael Waltrip will step out of his car and into Terry Fator Theatre at The Mirage to showcase his comedic personality in Michael Waltrip Comedy Garage Friday, March 4 and Saturday, March 5. Performing at 10 p.m. nightly as host of the show, the two-time Daytona 500 winner will be joined by comedians Henry Cho and Jon Reep. Waltrip will introduce each comedian as they proceed with a hilarious comedic routine. At the end of the show, Waltrip will join Cho and Reep onstage for a 30-minute Q&A panel with the audience.
