The 2014 Tony Award Nominations were announced earlier today, and while a select, talented few will spend the day celebrating their achievements, there are many who just fell short of a 2014 nod.

The 13th annual Tribeca Film Festival, co-founded by Robert De Niro, Jane Rosenthal and Craig Hatkoff, and presented by AT&T, announced the winners of its competition categories tonight at a ceremony presided over by Pat Kiernan and hosted at the Conrad New York in New York City. Actress Marisa Tomei stopped by this morning's TODAY to chat about her new role on Broadway in THE REALISTIC JONESES and being associated with her role in 'My Cousin Vinnie' more than 20 years later.
The Realistic Joneses open last week, April 6, on Broadway at the Lycuem Theatre. This new American play by Will Eno came to Broadway after a critically-acclaimed run at the Yale Repertory Theatre in 2012. The cast includes Toni Collete, Michael C. Hall, Tracy Letts, and Marisa Tomei.
Today in 2000, The Wild Party opened at the Virginia Theatre (now the August Wilson Theatre), where it ran for 68 performances. The Wild Party is a musical with a book by Michael John LaChiusa and George C. Wolfe and music and lyrics by LaChiusa. It is based on the 1928 Joseph Moncure March narrative poem of the same name. The Broadway production coincidentally opened during the same theatrical season (1999-2000) as an off-Broadway musical with the same title and source material. Its plot centers on a party - fueled by bathtub gin, cocaine, and uninhibited sexual behavior - hosted by Queenie and Burrs, whose relationship is disintegrating. The cast included Toni Collette (making her Broadway debut) as Queenie, Mandy Patinkin as Burrs, and Yancey Arias as Black.
