The Sundance Institute has announced that Cedar Rapids will make its Midwest premiere at the Michigan Theater as part of Sundance Film Festival USA.

La Jolla Playhouse presents the Pulitzer Prize-winning play Ruined, by Lynn Nottage (Intimate Apparel, Crumbs from the Table of Joy), directed by South Africa native Liesl Tommy, in the Mandell Weiss Theatre November 16 - December 19 (media night: Sunday, November 21 at 7:00 pm).

Broadway veteran Kevin Anderson leads the cast in the Los Angeles run of world premiere production of Neil LaBute's The Break of Noon. The Break of Noon, which is a co-production with MCC in New York, will feature Catherine Dent as well as Tracee Chimo and John Earl Jelks, who performed their roles in the New York portion of the run. Helmed by director Jo Bonney, The Break of Noon begins in previews on January 25, 2011 and officially opens February 2, 2011.

According to Deadline.com Oprah Winfrey is currently in talks to star in a film adaptation of Lynn Nottage's RUINED. The Pulitzer prize-winning play is being translated to the big screen by HBO Films, with Oprah Winfrey and Kate Forte serving as executive producers.

Following up on last month's announcement of the Film Forward: Advancing Cultural Dialogue initiative, Sundance Institute announced today the ten films selected to participate in the inaugural year of this cultural exchange program. The first Film Forward slate includes five American and five international films which will be presented in collaboration with public and private partners. These films and their filmmakers will kick off the ambitious project in New York and Tunisia in December.

WaterTower Theatre Producing Artistic Director Terry Martin recently announced that Amy Corcoran will direct the Company's production of the award-winning Annie Baker play, Circle Mirror Transformation. The comedy runs November 4-21, 2010 in the Studio Theatre at the Addison Theatre Centre. WaterTower Theatre will celebrate its 15th anniversary with its 2010-2011 season.

The Huntington Theatre Company continues its 29th season with Circle Mirror Transformation, an acclaimed new comedy by Annie Baker.

As previously announced, three Boston theatre companies will engage in a landmark local collaboration this fall to produce breakout writer Annie Baker's first three plays - Circle Mirror Transformation, produced by the Huntington Theatre Company (October 15 - November 14), Body Awareness, produced by SpeakEasy Stage Company (October 22 - November 20), and The Aliens, produced by Company One (October 22 - November 20). All set in the fictional town of Shirley, VT, the plays will run together in the first-ever festival dedicated to the work of this wryly observant young writer, which will be curated by the Huntington Theatre Company.

The cast features Lynn Blackburn as Theresa, Kayla Carlyle as Lauren, Lisa Hassler as Marty, Bill Jenkins as James and Ted Wold as Schultz.

An afternoon gallery talk by artist Elisabeth Subin will be offered at The Jewish Museum on Monday, November 8 at 1 pm. Ms. Subrin will talk about the current exhibition, Shulie: Film and Stills by Elisabeth Subrin. The gallery talk is FREE with admission to The Jewish Museum. The Jewish Museum is located at Fifth Avenue at 92nd Street, Manhattan.
