Greta Gerwig Replaces Maggie Gyllenhaal in MCC Theater's THE VILLAGE BIKE

MCC THEATER has announced that indie film star Greta Gerwig will now lead the cast of the American premiere of Penelope Skinner's celebrated play The Village Bike, the final production of MCC's 2013-14 Main Stage season. The Village Bike will be directed by Sam Gold, who recently directed the much-raved new musical Fun Home. It will premiere at The Lucille Lortel Theatre (121 Christopher Street, NYC) beginning May 22, 2014 with an official opening on June 10, 2014.

Benedict Cumberbatch to Star as RICHARD III in Upcoming BBC Two Film

BBC Two recently announced that it will air three filmed adaptations of Shakespeare's History plays including a new version of Richard III. Today, BBC Two confirmed on its Twitter feed that actor Benedict Cumberbatch will take on the role of the titular king.

ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW Returns to King's Theatre Glasgow, Now thru 10 Aug

Following the huge success of The Rocky Horror Show 40th Anniversary Production at the King's Theatre Glasgow in February and March 2013, the production is triumphantly returning between today, 6 - 10 August 2013 as part of its year-long run. Dani Harmer, finalist of Strictly Come Dancing 2012 and star of Tracy Beaker, will play the role of Janet. Ben Forster, who won the ITV1 series Superstar and then went on to play the lead in Jesus Christ Superstar, will star alongside Dani in the role of Brad. West End actor Oliver Thornton, follows in the footsteps of Tim Curry starring as the lead character of Frank 'n' Furter. Christopher Luscombe, who is the director of The Rocky Horror Show 40th Anniversary production, will play the role of the Narrator in his first acting role for over a decade.

Shanghai Ballet to Make UK Debut with JANE EYRE, Aug 14-18

Shanghai Ballet Company is to make its highly anticipated UK debut in August at the London Coliseum with performances of JANE EYRE, an original, innovative ballet production based on Charlotte Brontë's famous novel. Performances will run August 14th-18th, choreographed by Patrick de Bana.

Claire Foy Joins James McAvoy in MACBETH for Trafalgar Transformed

Claire Foy (White Heat, Little Dorrit, The Promise) will play Lady Macbeth, alongside the previously announced BAFTA winning and Golden Globe nominated actor James McAvoy (The Last King of Scotland, Atonement, X-Men) as Macbeth. Joining them, to complete the cast, are Jamie Ballard (Macduff), Graeme Dalling (Donalbain), Lisa Gardner (Witch), Kevin Guthrie (Lennox), Richard Hansell (Ross), Forbes Masson (Banquo), Allison McKenzie (Witch), Olivia Morgan (Witch), Catherine Murray (Caithness), Callum O'Neill (Angus), Mark Quartley (Malcolm) and Hugh Ross (Duncan/Doctor).

Danielle Hope Joins West End Cast of LES MISERABLES, June 18

Danielle Hope will join the cast of London's West End production of Les Miserables beginning June 18 starring as Eponine. She joins Geronimo Rauch and Tam Mutu, who will join the cast to play Jean Valjean and Javert respectively, Daily Mail reports.

TV: Inside Opening Night of Roundabout's LOOK BACK IN ANGER

Last night, February 2, Roundabout Theatre Company opened its new production of John Osborne's Look Back in Anger, directed by Roundabout Associate Artist Sam Gold. The cast features Adam Driver as 'Cliff,' Sarah Goldberg as 'Allison,' Charlotte Parry as 'Helena,' and Matthew Rhys as 'Jimmy'. BroadwayWorld's Richard Ridge takes you inside opening night with interviews on the red carpet. Look Back in Anger opens at the Laura Pels Theatre at the Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre. The production will play a limited engagement through April 8, 2012.

Vineyard Theatre and Naked Angels Present OUTSIDE PEOPLE, Opening January 2012

The Vineyard Theatre in collaboration with Naked Angels will co-produce the world-premiere of Zayd Dohrn's play OUTSIDE PEOPLE, directed by Evan Cabnet at The Vineyard (108 East 15th Street), with previews expected to begin late December prior to an official opening in early January 2012, it has been announced by Douglas Aibel, Artistic Director of Vineyard Theatre and Sarah Stern, The Vineyard's Co-Artistic Director.
