Firehouse Theatre begins its summer with a bang as we travel back to the counterculture of the '60s for POP!, a new musical with book and lyrics by Maggie-Kate Coleman and music by Anna K. Jacobs. Directed by Jase Smith (Rocky Horror Show, RENT, Reefer Madness) and sponsored by the Binger Center of Yale Repertory Theatre and The Lewis and Butler Foundation, POP! runs July 11 - August 10, 2013 with an Opening Night performance and reception on Friday, July 12 at 8pm.

The Baltimore Playwrights Festival (www.baltplayfest.org) continues its Thirty-Second Season with two play-readings on Saturday, March 9, 2013, at Messiah Lutheran Church, 1025 S. Potomac Street, Baltimore, MD 21224 (on O'Donnell Square, http://www.messiahodsq.com/ ). Starting at 1:00 p.m., plays to be read are The Gin Baby, by Sarah Shaefer, to be followed at 3:00 p.m. by Fifteen Men in a Smoke Filled Room, by Colin Crowley. After each reading there will be a discussion of the script with the playwright, director and actors. The event is free, and the general public is encouraged to attend.

Virginia Repertory Theatre announces the opening of Hay Fever by Noel Coward at the Sara Belle and Neil November Theatre on Friday, February 15, 2013 with a preview on February 14. Part of the Acts of Faith Theatre Festival, the show will run through March 3 with a talk back on Sunday, February 24 following the 2:00 p.m. matinee. This witty comedy of manners set in the 1920's English countryside portrays the outlandish lifestyle of four bohemians as they host unsuspecting guests for a weekend in the country.
