Firehouse Theatre to Present New Andy Warhol-Centric Musical POP!, 7/11-8/10

Firehouse Theatre begins its summer with a bang as we travel back to the counterculture of the '60s for POP!, a new musical with book and lyrics by Maggie-Kate Coleman and music by Anna K. Jacobs. Directed by Jase Smith (Rocky Horror Show, RENT, Reefer Madness) and sponsored by the Binger Center of Yale Repertory Theatre and The Lewis and Butler Foundation, POP! runs July 11 - August 10, 2013 with an Opening Night performance and reception on Friday, July 12 at 8pm.

John Mincks to Star in Firehouse Theatre Project's POP!; Full Cast Announced!

Firehouse Theatre Project announces complete casting and the creative team for POP!, a new musical with book and lyrics by Maggie-Kate Coleman and music by Anna K. Jacobs, directed by Jase Smith. Sponsored in part by Yale Repertory Theatre's Binger Center for New Theatre, POP! will play for 18 performances, July 11 - August 10. Opening Night is Friday, July 12.

Celebrating its 20th anniversary, Firehouse Theatre Project presents a series of plays that span the entire contemporary era from an American classic set in sultry post WWII New Orleans to a hilarious new satire set in a present day wrestling ring. Winners of 10 prestigious awards and numerous nominations for their New York premiers, the 2013-14 season boasts three Pulitzer Prize for Drama finalists and an Outer Critics Circle Award winner for Outstanding Off-Broadway Musical.

The Baltimore Playwrights Festival Continues 3/9

The Baltimore Playwrights Festival (www.baltplayfest.org) continues its Thirty-Second Season with two play-readings on Saturday, March 9, 2013, at Messiah Lutheran Church, 1025 S. Potomac Street, Baltimore, MD 21224 (on O'Donnell Square, http://www.messiahodsq.com/ ). Starting at 1:00 p.m., plays to be read are The Gin Baby, by Sarah Shaefer, to be followed at 3:00 p.m. by Fifteen Men in a Smoke Filled Room, by Colin Crowley. After each reading there will be a discussion of the script with the playwright, director and actors. The event is free, and the general public is encouraged to attend.

Virginia Rep Opens Noël Coward's HAY FEVER, 2/15

Virginia Repertory Theatre announces the opening of Hay Fever by Noel Coward at the Sara Belle and Neil November Theatre on Friday, February 15, 2013 with a preview on February 14. Part of the Acts of Faith Theatre Festival, the show will run through March 3 with a talk back on Sunday, February 24 following the 2:00 p.m. matinee. This witty comedy of manners set in the 1920's English countryside portrays the outlandish lifestyle of four bohemians as they host unsuspecting guests for a weekend in the country.

Firehouse Theatre Project Appoints Jase Smith as Interim Artistic Director

The Firehouse Theatre Project is pleased to announce the appointment of Jase Smith to the position of Interim Artistic Director. Smith is well known to the Richmond theatre community as a rising star director of shows that have earned many accolades including 24 Richmond Theatre Critic's Circle Awards nominations and eight awards in various categories.

'Coriolanus' will be re-envisioned as a modern day election fable in the second production of the Drilling Company's 2012 Shakespeare in the Park(ing) Lot series, to be presented August 2 to 18 in the Municipal Parking Lot at the corner of Ludlow and Broome Streets. Hamilton Clancy directs.

The Firehouse Theatre Project has announced auditions for A Bright New Boise, by Samuel D. Hunter, running Sept. 20 - Oct. 13, directed by Morrie Piersol. Auditions will take place today May 6 and tomorrow, May 7 from 7-10pm at Firehouse Theatre Project.

Dessa Rose, featuring Stacey Cabaj as Ruth, by Lynn Ahrens with music by Stephen Flaherty, is presented in a co-production with Firehouse Theatre Project and Richmond CenterStage. The show features music direction by Leilani Giles, choreography by Karen Getz and is directed by Richard M. Parison, Jr. It runs tonight, May 4 through June 3, 2012, Thurs.-Sat. at 8pm, Wed. May 23 at 2pm, and Sun. May 6, 13, 20, and June 3 at 4pm.

The Firehouse Theatre Project today announced the four contemporary American plays being produced for the 2012-13 season, opening in September 2012 and closing in April 2013. The 2012-13 Season will feature A Bright New Boise, by Samuel D. Hunter; Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller; Any Given Monday by Bruce Graham; and Time Stands Still by Donald Margulies.
