Guthrie Director Joe Dowling today announced 14 plays of the Theater's 2011-2012 season. The diversity of productions showcases the full potential of the three-theater complex, offering a balance of the classic and the modern, both in comedies and tragedies, as the Guthrie prepares to celebrate its fifth anniversary in its Mississippi Riverfront building.

The dead will rise from the grave ... a witch hunt will decide the fates of three people ... a once glorious institution will face the wrecking ball...and a classic literary character will take his case to court.

Sunday Series at Abingdon is proud to present 8-string 'groove' guitarist Charlie Hunter and 'Folk Jazz' Saxophonist Daniel Bennett who are teaming up for a special double bill performance to benefit not-for-profit Abingdon Theatre Company.

The Repertory East Playhouse will open its 2011 Season with Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune, by Terrence McNally and sponsored by Mission View Public Schools. 'This is an amazing piece of theatre, and a challenge for us. We are all very excited for this production.' says Artistic Director Ovington Michael Owston.

The Ensemble Studio Theatre Youngblood program, taking more advantage of its talented roster of emerging playwrights under 30, will present three studio productions of new plays under the title UNFILTERED 2011 January 13 through February 5 at its percolating playwrights headquarters, 549 West 52nd Street.

The John Marshall Quintet featuring Grant Stewart will fill Abingdon Theatre with the sound of Jazz on Sunday, August 8 at 7:00pm and 9:00pm for this one evening benefit special performance. Having learned his craft, with help from Ornette Coleman and Lonnie Hillyer, trumpeter John Marshall went on to work with a succession of big bands led by Buddy Rich, Mel Lewis, Lionel Hampton, Al Porcino, Gerry Mulligan and Dizzy Gillespie.
