The Drama League (Executive Artistic Director, Gabriel Shelian-Shanks) gathered yesterday, May 20th, for the 82nd Annual Drama League Awards Ceremony, hosted by 2016 Tony® Award-nominees, Zachary Levi (She Loves Me) and Megan Hilty (Noises Off), in the Broadway Ballroom at the Marriott Marquis Times Square (1535 Broadway). ?For the first-time ever, as an Official Sponsor of the 70th Annual Tony Awards and Presenting Sponsor of the Behind the Scenes Livestream, BroadwayHD will join forces with the Tony Awards to stream extra behind-the-scenes video content during the CBS telecast of the awards, live from the Beacon Theatre. The stream will be available on BroadwayHD.com and TonyAwards.com on June 12, 2016 at 8:00 PM ET.

The Actors Fund recognized its 2016 Medal of Honor recipients at its annual gala, last night, April 25, 2016 (6pm) at the Marriott Marquis. Honorees included actor and producer Michael Douglas, producer and singer/songwriter Emilio and Gloria Estefan, NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt, American prima ballerina Cynthia Gregory, and director and choreographer Casey Nicholaw. On Monday, April 25, 2016, faculty member and alumnus Alan Gilbert (Juilliard Pre-College '85, MM '94) conducts the Juilliard Orchestra in an evening weaving together the words of William Shakespeare with the music of Felix Mendelssohn in A Midsummer Night's Dream featuring actors Phillipa Soo (Hamilton on Broadway) and Bradley Whitford (The West Wing and Amazon's Transparent). Joining them will be current students and distinguished alumni.

The Drama Book Shop will host producer and author Stewart Lane (A Gentleman's Guide To Love & Murder, Jekyll & Hyde and the upcoming Top Hat) for a discussion and signing of his new book Black Broadway: African-Americans On the Great White Way. The discussion, which is free to the public, will take place on Monday, February 22nd at 5:00PM.

Lane and Bonnie Comely (On Your Feet!, A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder, China Doll, War Horse) to celebrate the unveiling of their new portrait at Sardi's. It was 20 years ago when Sarah Jessica Parker starred Off-Broadway in A.R. Gurney's off-beat comedy about a man and his dog, SLYVIA. Just last night her hubby Matthew Broderick had the honor of opening in SLYVIA on Broadway, joined by Annaleigh Ashford as Sylvia, with Julie White and Robert Sella. The Drama League's Centennial Charity Auction has launched at www.biddingforgood.com/thedramaleague, featuring over fifty once-in-a-lifetime prize packages. 

Just yesterday, the Actors Fund officially renamed their Manhattan residence, "The Aurora," (West 57th and 10th Avenue) at a special ribbon cutting ceremony.  The residence will now be called "The Dorothy Ross Friedman Residence."  Brian Stokes Mitchell and Chita Rivera were there for the occasion, and BroadwayWorld brings you an inside look at the festivities below!
