McCartney has been selected as the 2012 MusiCare Person of the Year in recognition of his artistic and philanthropic efforts. The star-studded tribute took place at the Los Angeles Convention Center's West Hall. The gala featureD a cocktail reception, silent auction, dinner, and concert of McCartney's music, played by a variety of guest musicians as well as McCartney himself. The annual event is held to raise funds and awareness of the Recording Academy's philanthropic wing, with proceeds benefitting MusicCares' emergency financial assistance and addiction recovery programs.
