Signature Theatre has announced a one-week extension for Night is a Room, written by Residency One playwright Naomi Wallace and directed by Bill Rauch. Night is a Room, the third and final production of Wallace's residency, will now run November 3, 2015 to December 20, 2015 with a Sunday, November 22 opening night in The Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues).

Running November 20 - December 6, 2015, Boulder-based LOCAL Theater Company presents the World Premiere of James McLindon's dark comedy FAITH at the Dairy Center for the Arts, 2590 Walnut Street in Boulder.

PlayMakers Repertory Company, the professional theater in residence at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, has appointed Vivienne Benesch as its next Producing Artistic Director. After an extensive national search, she will take up the position Jan. 1, 2016 succeeding Joseph Haj as the company's eighth artistic leader.

The Public Theater announced today that Stacey Sargeant will join the cast of ECLIPSED as "Helena" beginning Tuesday, November 3.

The Old Globe today shared its 2016 Summer Season, which will feature new and familiar works directed by four major American stalwarts. The season features the welcome return of Steve Martin (Bright Star) with the World Premiere of his new play Meteor Shower, an adult comedy, directed by Gordon Edelstein, in a co-production with Long Wharf Theatre, where he serves as Artistic Director. Paul Gordon's musical Sense and Sensibility will have its West Coast premiere, presented in association with Chicago Shakespeare Theater, where it had its world premiere in February 2015, directed by CST Artistic Director Barbara Gaines. The Summer Shakespeare Festival will include Macbeth, directed by Brian Kulick, Artistic Director of Classic Stage Company, and Love's Labor's Lost, directed by three-time Tony Award winner Kathleen Marshall.

GIRLSTARSignature Theatre presents GIRLSTAR, directed by Signature Artistic Director Eric Schaeffer (Broadway's Gigi, Follies, Million Dollar Quartet). The Tony Award-winning Signature Theatre continues to expand its SigWorks program by launching a free Musical Theater Director Workshop for Washington DC based directors from January 13 - 15, 2016. This intensive free workshop will be led by Signature Theatre's acclaimed artistic team: Artistic Director Eric Schaeffer (Broadway's Gigi, Million Dollar Quartet, Follies), Associate Artistic Director Matthew Gardiner (Cabaret, Sunday in the Park with George) and Director of New Works Joe Calarco (Gypsy, Cake Off).

Michael J. Bobbitt and Adventure Theatre MTC were recognized today by the Center for Nonprofit Advancement as the 2015 winner of the Gelman Rosenberg and Freedman EXCEL Award.
