Virginia Theatre Association will again host a Who's Who of Virginia's theatre community, including Broadway's Mercedes Herrero (University of Virginia and Yale Drama, Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, The Laramie Project); Charlotte d'Amboise (Pippin, Chicago, A Chorus LIne) Theatre/Tech Visionary Natasha Tsakos, Google Live Event Strategist Jason Fahlstrom, and many others, when Virginia Theatre Association (VTA) returns to Norfolk for its #VTA2016: Creative Acts Annual Conference, October 26-30, 2016, at the Norfolk Waterside Marriott Hotel.

Maechi Aharanwa, Tre Davis and Renika Williams will star in Harrison David Rivers' play 'Sweet,' the first theatrical production of the 48th season of Dr. Barbara Ann Teer's National Black Theatre's (NBT).

Signature Theatre presents the world premiere production of Disney's Freaky Friday. Developed by Disney Theatrical Productions expressly for licensing to theatres, Freaky Friday features a book by Bridget Carpenter, music by Tom Kitt and lyrics by Brian Yorkey. This premiere production will be directed byChristopher Ashley with choreography by Sergio Trujillo. Freaky Friday will run from October 4 - November 20 in Signature Theatre's MAX Theatre. The Harold and Mimi Steinberg Charitable Trust today announced that Pulitzer Prize finalist and Tony Award-nominated playwright Sarah Ruhl is this year's recipient of the Steinberg Distinguished Playwright Award.

Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for theatre, has announced the recipients of the second round of the 2016 Edgerton Foundation New Play Awards.

One of the finest actors of his generation, Jeremy Irvine (Steven Spielberg's War Horse, The Railway Man, Now is Good and forthcoming films Fallen, Billionaire Boys Club, and This Beautiful Fantastic) will make his West End debut in Sam Shepard's Pulitzer & Obie prize winning play, Buried Child.

There are people who eat and there are those who get eaten. This fall, Arena Stage serves up Lillian Hellman's The Little Foxes, a delicious drama about family greed and betrayal. Emmy Award winner and Golden Globe nominee Marg Helgenberger, known for her 12 seasons as Catherine Willows on CBS's CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, stars as Regina Giddens under veteran director Kyle Donnelly, who has directed more than 20 productions at Arena Stage. The Little Foxes runs tonight, September 23, through October 30, 2016 in the Kreeger Theater.

Back by popular demand, Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma will present its hit, Richard O'Brien's THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW, October 13 through November 5 at Lyric's Plaza Theatre.  This triennial production will feature a cast of local favorites, including Matthew Alvin Brown as Riff Raff, Lexi Windsor as Columbia, and Vince Leseney as Eddie/Dr. Scott. Tickets are on sale now, and start at $31.

THE VOICE WITHIN, written by and starring Broadway's Lindsey Brett Carothers (Bring it On, WICKED (National Tour)) will return to The Duplex for two performances this fall after its acclaimed world premiere on August 7.  The newly announced dates are Today September 22nd at 9:30, and Sunday October 9th at 7pm.  The show is directed by Marshall Pailet with music direction by Andrea Grody. Drew Fornarola and Madame Mathieu Productions will produce.

The Public Theater's MOBILE UNIT'S Hamlet officially opens at the The Public Theater's Shiva Theater tonight, September 22, for a run through Sunday, October 9.

Parks is Signature's current Residency One playwright; her plays Venus, directed by Lear deBessonet, and The Red Letter Plays: In the Bloodand f**king A, directed by Jo Bonney, will be presented in 2017.
