American Shakespeare Center Only U.S. Theatre Featured in BBC's SHAKESPEARE UNCOVERED Series, 2/8

The American Shakespeare Center is the only U.S. theatre company included in the British Broadcasting Corporation's six-part series, 'Shakespeare Uncovered.' The final installment of the series, 'Shakespeare Uncovered: The Tempest with Trevor Nunn,' features the ASC prominently through rehearsal and performance footage from the company's 2011 production of The Tempest as well as interviews with ASC Co-Founder and Artistic Director Jim Warren and actors James Keegan and Miriam Donald Burrows.

Tarragon Theatre to Present Mini-Festival of Hannah Moscovitch Plays, 2/20-3/24

Tarragon Theatre presents A Double Bill celebrating the work of acclaimed playwright-in-residence Hannah Moscovitch, with premieres of her plays Little One and Other People's Children. A co-production with Theatre Crisis and Theatre PANIK, A Hannah Moscovitch Double Bill opens February 20 and runs to March 24 (previewing from February 14) in Tarragon Theatre's Extra Space.

Casting Announced for UK and Ireland Tour of NOISES OFF

Casting is announced for the UK tour of Michael Frayn's multi-award-winning backstage comedy Noises Off. Following its acclaimed run at The Old Vic and then at the Novello Theatre in the West End, Noises Off will tour theatres across the UK and Ireland from 27 March 2013.

Kathryn Hunter Stars in Arcola Theatre's MARE RIDER, Now thru Feb 16

Olivier Award-winner Kathryn Hunter returns to the Arcola Theatre in Leyla Nazli's evocative new play, The Mare Rider. The production runs tonight, 22 January - Saturday 16 February 2013, with press night slated for Friday 25 January at 7.30PM.

HOW THE WORLD BEGAN Opens in The Rep's Stiemke Studio Tonight

Religion and science collide in playwright Catherine Trieschmann's How the World Began, a visceral examination of the way in which we navigate interpersonal relationships involving seemingly irreconcilable beliefs - and just how hard it is to truly listen to one another in an increasingly polarized world. How the World Began runs in the Stiemke Studio from January 16 - February 24, and opens tonight, January 18.

American Shakespeare Company's Jeff Watkins Becomes President of Shakespeare Theatre Association

Jeff Watkins, founder and Artistic Director of the Atlanta Shakespeare Company at the New American Shakespeare Tavern, recently began his two-year term as President of the international Shakespeare Theatre Association (STA). He stepped into the position at this past week's STA conference, succeeding Patrick Spottiswoode, Director of Education for Shakespeare's Globe Theatre in London.

Final Weeks to See TWELFTH NIGHT and RICHARD III at the Apollo

Tim Carroll's critically-acclaimed sell-out productions of Twelfth Night and Richard III, which recouped within a few weeks of opening in the West End, will complete their run at the Apollo Theatre on 10 February as scheduled. Mark Rylance, who plays Olivia in Twelfth Night and the title role of Richard III, is joined by Stephen Fry as Malvolio in Twelfth Night.

Gonet Leads Cast Of BEFORE THE PARTY At Almeida From Mar 21

Matthew Dunster will direct Rodney Ackland's Before The Party at the Almeida Theatre from 21 March - 11 May 2013. Based on a short story by Somerset Maugham, Before The Party has designs by Anna Fleischle with lighting by Philip Gladwell and sound by Ian Dickinson. Dunster's production of Before The Party will be the first in over 25 years.

David Darlow to Star in Chicago Shakespeare Theater's JULIUS CAESAR; Full Cast Announced!

Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST) announced today casting for its contemporary retelling of William Shakespeare's Julius Caesar, staged by acclaimed British director Jonathan Munby in his Chicago debut, February 5-March 24, 2013 in CST's Courtyard Theater. The production features a celebrated company of artists that includes Jeff Award-winning Chicago actor David Darlow in the title role, Canada's Stratford Festival favorite Dion Johnstone as Marc Antony, New York stage and screen actor Jason Kolotouros as Caius Cassius and British actor John Light as Marcus Brutus. The production also welcomes the return of veteran CST actors David Lively as Ligarius/Lepidus, Barbara E. Robertson as Calphurnia and Larry Yando as Casca.

Belarus Free Theatre's MINSK 2011: A REPLY TO KATHY ACKER Comes to Chicago Shakespeare Theater, 1/30-2/3

Belarus Free Theatre makes its way to the United States in January, despite several police raids last month at underground performance spaces in the capital of Minsk. The raids came on the eve of the company bringing its newest political piece, Minsk, 2011: A Reply to Kathy Acker, to Chicago Shakespeare Theater January 30-February 3, 2013. To foster dialogue and encourage participation, all tickets for this six-performance limited engagement are $20. The piece, which explores the sexual brutality and oppression by the totalitarian regime in Belarus, is one of many award-winning productions by the company, celebrated for creating art based upon the unjustly persecuted people of Belarus.

David Greig's MIDSUMMER [A PLAY WITH SONGS] Makes NY Premiere at Theatre Row, Now thru 1/26

The Carol Tambor Theatrical Foundation has announced the NY premiere of the critically-acclaimed production of MIDSUMMER [A PLAY WITH SONGS], written and directed by David Greig, with songs by Gordon McIntyre, from the Traverse Theatre in Scotland. MIDSUMMER comes to NY as the 2012 co-winner of the Best of Edinburgh Award given annually by the Carol Tambor Theatrical Foundation.

Stratford Festival Opens Box Office for 2013 Season on Saturday

The Stratford Festival's box office opens to the public this Saturday, January 5, at 9 a.m., with an online advance sale beginning at noon on Friday. Facebook fans, who want to use the Festival's new social ticketing app will be able to purchase tickets as of 9 a.m. today. Tickets are being offered at up to 25% off until January 31, with an opportunity to exchange dates with no added expense.
