Yesterday, May 19, Broadway's brightest gathered at the Marriott Marquis Times Square to celebrate this year's Drama League Awards nominees for Outstanding Play, Outstanding Revival of a Play, Outstanding Musical, Outstanding Revival of a Musical, and the much-coveted Distinguished Performance Award. It's a deeply emotional musical telling the story of a lesbian girl as she navigates her way through life with a closeted gay father. The Broadway Production won the Tony in 2015 for Best Musical as well as top honors for its book and score. It is a handsome show, acted expertly, and it will move anyone lucky enough to connect with its take on what it is like to be queer in the world.

It All Comes Back! FUN HOME Recoups on the Road

Producers Fox Theatricals and Barbara Whitman have announced that the national tour of the 2015 Tony Award-winning Best Musical, FUN HOME, has recouped its tour production costs in only eight months since opening in October 2016 in Cleveland, OH.

A DOLL'S HOUSE, PART 2 to Present Midnight Performance for The Actors Fund

Producer Scott Rudin announced today that Lucas Hnath's new play, A Doll's House, Part 2 - the most Tony-nominated play of the year, with eight nominations including Best Play - will offer a special Midnight Performance on Thursday, May 18, 2017. This one-time-only, late-night event will benefit The Actors Fund.

Cast Complete for Oscar Isaac-Led HAMLET at The Public Theater

The Public Theater announced complete casting today for HAMLET, featuring Golden Globe Award winner Oscar Isaac as the tormented Danish Prince. Directed by Tony Award winner Sam Gold, HAMLET will begin previews on Tuesday, June 20 and run through Sunday, September 3 in the Anspacher Theater, with an official press opening on Thursday, July 13.

Everything's coming up Tonys! Spring has sprung, awards season has begun, and the latter is all that really matters to Broadway fans everywhere. Earlier this week, Jane Krakowski and Christopher Jackson announced the 2017 Tony nominees, celebrating the best of the 2016-17 theatre season (and what a season it's been!). Topping this year's list is Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812, which received twelve nominations, closely followed by Hello, Dolly! and Dear Evan Hansen- picking up ten and nine nods respectively. 

Kitchen Dog Theater presents TREVOR

Kitchen Dog Theater continues its 26th season of theater with the area premiere of Trevor by Nick Jones. Inspired by true events,?Trevor?is a subversive comedy about fame, success, and the lies we tell ourselves to keep people from taking away an erratic, 200-pound chimpanzee. At the center of this hilarious and heart-wrenching play are two individuals fighting against a world unable to understand their love: Trevor, a chimpanzee who once performed in commercials with the likes of Morgan Fairchild, and his owner Sandra, who swears he would never hurt a fly...at least not on purpose. KDT Co-Artistic Director Tina Parker directs this hilarious and heartbreaking exploration of family, flawed communication, and humanity. 

Karen Pittman to Lead Dominique Morisseau's PIPELINE at Lincoln Center Theater; Cast Announced!

Lincoln Center Theater has announced that Tasha Lawrence, Morocco Omari, Karen Pittman, Namir Smallwood, Jaime Lincoln Smith, and Heather Velazquez will be featured in its upcoming production of PIPELINE, a new play by Dominique Morisseau, directed by Lileana Blain-Cruz, which begins performances Thursday, June 15 at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater (150 West 65 Street).  Opening night is Monday, July 10.
