John Chatterton's venerable Midtown International Theatre Festival once again earned it name with a staged reading of a new play by emerging playwright Mohammed Saad Ali. The brusquely titled 'OLD MEN ARE FULL OF S**T' tells the story of Ismail, a Pakistani whose been in America for more than 20 years (played with great humor and biting wit by Jay Paranada) but, because of an error in paperwork might be deported as an illegal immigrant to Pakistan, a place he left as a baby.

Under the Influence of Music, hip-hop's most electrifying summer tour, returns for its third epic year. Organizers announced today the tour's massive line-up will include hip-hop heavyweight and tour founder Wiz Khalifa as well as Young Jeezy, Tyga, Ty Dolla $ign and Rich Homie Quan. Also set to perform are some of hip-hop's hottest young acts including Sage The Gemini, Mack Wilds, Iamsu! and DJ Drama.

Old Norman Productions is pleased to announce the world premiere of SONNY UNDER THE ASSUMPTION, an original play by Edward Allan Baker (North of Providence, Dolores) debuting in Toronto, today, July 23-27 at the AKI Studio Theatre, Daniel Spectrum Artscape (250-585 Dundas Street). This powerful play investigates the realistic gap between the haves and have-nots, and questions whether individual people are truly capable of changing themselves - and thereby able to change the community they live in.

Katie Rubin returns to Capital Stage with her hit comedy show WHY I DIED, A COMEDY! on August 8 & 9 at 8pm. Capital Stage will host this Sacramento Premiere of popular actress/comedienne Katie Rubin performing her one-woman show following sold-out performances of the show at the Hollywood Fringe Festival earlier this summer.

Musical Theatre Factory (MTF) will host their second monthly Factory Salon-an informal new works open mic night-on Thursday, July 17th, from 8pm to Midnight. Musical Theatre Writers are invited to showcase new songs, and singers are invited to perform songs by new writers. Joe Iconis (The Black Suits, Bloodsong of Love, NBC's Smash) is headlining the event, which will also feature sets by guest composers Lizzie Hagstedt, Alexander Sage Oyen, and Zack Zadek.
