Chicago Shakespeare's GALA 2018 Raises $1.6 Million

Chicago Shakespeare Theater celebrated GALA 2018 on Friday, June 8, 2018, raising $1.6 million for the Chicago Shakespeare in Classrooms and Communities initiatives-which include the Tony Award-winning Theater's nationally recognized education programs and free citywide Chicago Shakespeare in the Parks tour.

Sean Grennan's NOW AND THEN Makes World Premire at Peninsula Players Theatre's 83rd Season Opener

Peninsula Players Theatre, America's Oldest Professional Resident Summer Theatre and Door County's theatrical icon, opened its 83rd season June 12 with the world premiere of "Now and Then" by Sean Grennan, a new comedy-drama featuring Erica Elam, Sean Fortunato, Barbara Robertson and Greg Vinkler, the Peninsula Players Artistic Director. The cast is under the direction of Tom Mula who directed the world premiere of Grennan's "The Tin Woman" and "Making God Laugh."

ROMEO AND JULIET Return to DC For Annual Free For All

Free For All, one of the capital's cherished annual traditions, will return this summer to Shakespeare Theatre Company (STC), offering two weeks of free performances of the Company's 2016 production of Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet. Directed by STC Associate Artistic Director Alan Paul, whose hit production of Camelot has extended through July 8 due to popular demand, the production will run at Sidney Harman Hall (610 F St NW) from August 21-September 2, providing more than 12,000 people the chance to see the play free of charge.

DR. SEUSS'S THE LORAX Begins Performances at The Old Globe This Month

The Old Globe, together with Children's Theatre Company (CTC), and in partnership with The Old Vic, today updated information for Dr. Seuss's The Lorax in its U.S. premiere. Laura Linney makes her London Theatre debut in Pulitzer Prize-winning Elizabeth Strout's My Name is Lucy Barton, directed by Richard Eyre at the Bridge Theatre. Running to 23 June 2018 with opening night on 6 June at 7pm, this haunting dramatic monologue is adapted by Rona Munro from Strout's 2016 New York Times best-selling short novel of the same name.

Ivo van Hove's THE DAMNED to Make North American Premiere at Park Ave. Armory

This July, Park Avenue Armory presents the North American premiere of two-time Tony- and Olivier Award-winning stage director Ivo van Hove's The Damned. Starring the venerated French troupe Comedie-Francaise-founded in 1680, it's the oldest national theater company in the world-in their first New York appearance in over a decade, the production will permeate the Armory's historic Wade Thompson Drill Hall with a tale of moral corruption, militaristic machinations, and a satirical celebration of evil. Emblematic of van Hove's artistic aesthetic, The Damned is a theatrical staging of Luchino Visconti's eponymous 1969 screenplay.
