Ken Ludwig To Be Distinguished Speaker At Annual Sherlock Holmes Birthday Weekend

Ken Ludwig - the two-time Olivier Award-winning playwright and author of more than two dozen plays, including the whodunits BASKERVILLE: A SHERLOCK HOLMES MYSTERY and a stage adaptation of Agatha Christie's MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS - will be the Distinguished Speaker at The Bakers Street Irregulars' Annual Sherlock Holmes Birthday Weekend on Friday, January 11 at the Yale Club in NYC, it has been announced by The Baker Street Irregulars, a literary society that celebrates all things Sherlockian.

The RSC's DON QUIXOTE Ends Its Limited Run At The Garrick Theatre On 2 February

The Royal Shakespeare Company's Don Quixote must end its strictly limited 14-week engagement at the Garrick Theatre on 2 February 2019. The critically-acclaimed production originally premiered at the RSC's Swan Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon in spring 2016 and transferred to the West End on 27 October.

Theater Resources Unlimited (TRU) announces Miracolo by Jarlath Barsanti-Jacobs and Emilio Solla as part of the 2019 TRU Voices New Musicals Reading Series on Monday evening January 14, 2019 at 7pm at the Actors Temple, 339 West 47th Street, New York, NY. The reading is produced by Harold Heno in association with R.K. Greene, and will be directed by Fred Mann III. Arkansas Repertory Theatre Names Executive Artistic Director

Arkansas Repertory Theatre announced today that William Trice has been named the theatre's new executive artistic director. Trice, a Little Rock native, has served as Broadway producer in New York since 2010, producing work that has earned him three Tony Awards and five nominations.

Casting Announced For TIME IS LOVE/TIEMPO ES AMOR at the Finborough Theatre

Writer and Director Che Walker returns to the Finborough Theatre to direct the European premiere of his own play Time Is Love/Tiempo es Amor, opening at the Finborough Theatre for a four-week limited season today, 1 January 2019 (Press Nights: Thursday, 3 January and Friday, 4 January 2019 at 7.30pm).

NapaShakes Presents First Burns Night Supper In The Gallery At Brasswood Napa Valley

On Friday, January 25, 2019, NapaShakes celebrates the birthday of Scotland's Bard: Robert Burns, and the music, food and culture of Scotland, with its first ever Burns Night Supper. Guests will savor the words of Scotland's greatest poet (and a bit of Shakespeare's Macbeth) accompanied by bagpipes and a lively Ceilidh band, plus engaging performances by two acclaimed actors from Britain and Broadway: Jane Carr and Victor Talmadge. The evening includes a delicious Napa Valley-style feast with traditional haggis (meat or vegetarian), neeps and tatties, and other delights in the candle-lit Gallery of St. Helena's Brasswood Napa Valley. The event is for age 21 and older, and attendees are welcome (but not required) to wear kilts and other traditional attire.

The Wallis Studio Ensemble Presents S.O.S.

The Wallis Studio Ensemble presents S.O.S.,  an original multi-media physical theatre work about love and resilience in times of crisis, directed by Madeleine Dahm, from Thursday, January 31 through Sunday, February 10, 2019 at the Circle X Theatre (Please note: S.O.S.is not  being performed at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts, but at the Circle X Theatre in Atwater Village). The production uses little known love letters by great writers and activists such as Vita Sackville West, Frederick Douglas, Maya Angelou, Tchaikovsky, Frida Kahlo, Virginia Woolf, Rainer Maria Rilke and others, along with original text, movement, film and photography.

Timon of Athens, at times a clunky collaboration and a clunkier mix of verse and prose, has much to say about how money corrupts and how spoiling adults is about as advisable as spoiling children. There's something of King Lear about it - but probably not enough.

After his hit production of King Charles III, David Muse returns to Shakespeare Theatre Company to direct Shakespeare's Richard the Third, a mesmerizing chronicle of the megalomaniac's rampage to the throne. The production will play at Sidney Harman Hall (610 F Street NW) from February 5-March 10, 2019.

BWW Review: THE MERRY WIVES OF WINDSOR, Barbican

East meets west, as the RSC's latest production of Shakespeare's comedy gets a TOWIE makeover. Following a popular summer run at the Royal Shakespeare Company's Stratford-upon-Avon base, it transfers to the Barbican for a limited engagement over the winter. David Troughton stars as the infamous knight Falstaff, who is at the peak of his lecherous and womanising ways during the course of this play - until he meets his matches in Mistresses Ford and Page.
