BAFTA Award-winning writer, comedian and actor Stephen Merchant will make his West End debut in a new production of Richard Bean's comic two hander The Mentalists. Steffan Rhodri will join Merchant in a return to the West End when the production, Directed by Abbey Wright, runs for a strictly limited season at the Wyndham's Theatre from Friday 3 July to 26 September. Tickets go on sale on Friday 27 February.

Film distributor RADiUS has announced that its new film, THE LAST FIVE YEARS starring Anna Kendrick and Jeremy Jordan which opened Friday to great reviews, scored an impressive $14,014 per screen in limited release for a total theatrical weekend box office of $42,042.
X-MEN producer Bryan Singer recently announced that the next film in the franchise will feature younger versions of original characters like Jean Grey, Cyclops, and Storm. Now, they have added Rose Byrne's Moira MacTaggert to the lineup.
Doing a big play like YOU CAN'T TAKE IT WITH YOU is a lot like doing a musical. Large choreographed sections, lots of entrances and exits - we even have dance numbers and xylophone solos. So, it shouldn't surprise you that our cast loves to sing! Just last week, stage management had to scold us in the middle of act two. Apparently, our impromptu greenroom rendition of Funkytown was so loud it could be heard stage right. The exact quote was, "Seriously, guys, I love you. But it's just too loud." Full disclosure, I was completely ready to despise everything about the remake of ANNIE starring Jamie Foxx and Quvenzhane Wallis. In fact, I had already written the lede in my head, and let me tell you, it was scathing. But, then I saw the movie, and was pleasantly surprised by how not completely horrible it was. Yes, it will probably still rank as one of the worst big screen musical adaptations of the past decade; just above the disastrous NINE; but there was plenty to appreciate for musical theatre lovers young and old.
