The National Alliance for Musical Theatre (NAMT) announced today the eight musicals selected to be part of the 23rd Annual Festival of New Musicals on Thursday, October 27 and Friday, October 28 at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street).

Performance artist Reno (Rebel Without a Pause), Tony-nominee Justin Vivian Bond (Kiki & Herb: Alive on Broadway), and Robert Croonquist (associate producer of 2002 documentary 'The Cockettes') were among the theatergoers at Theatre 80 (80 St. Marks Place) on Friday night where San Francisco's acclaimed Thrillpeddlers performed a concert version of the cult hit VICE PALACE: THE LAST COCKETTES MUSICAL, as part of HOWL! Arts Project 2011.

To Save and Project, MoMA's international film preservation festival, celebrates its ninth year with gloriously preserved masterworks and rediscoveries of world cinema. This year's festival comprises over 35 films from 14 countries, virtually all of them having their New York premieres, with some shown in versions never before seen in the United States. Guest presenters include Douglas Crimp, Joe Dante, Walter Hill, Alejandro Jodorowsky, Elaine May, Mario Montez, Thelma Schoonmaker, and Martin Scorsese, and highlights include films by Roger Corman, Forugh Farrokhzad, George Kuchar, Claude Lanzmann, Alberto Lattuada, Louis Malle, Agnes Martin, Georges Méliès, Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger, Jean Rouch, Raúl Ruiz, and Seijun Suzuki.

The Museum of Modern Art will present To Save and Project: The Ninth MoMA International Festival of Film Preservation, the annual festival of preserved and restored films from archives, studios, and distributors around the world, from October 14 through November 19, 2011.

The Producers Guild of America (PGA) announced today that producer, director, writer and Principal Partner of DreamWorks Studios Steven Spielberg will receive the 2012 David O. Selznick Achievement Award in Motion Pictures. The award will be presented to Spielberg at the 23rd Annual Producers Guild Awards ceremony on Saturday, January 21st at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles.
