Hudson's Bay Company announced the appointment of Gerald (Jerry) Storch as Chief Executive Officer, effective January 6, 2015. Storch will be responsible for Hudson's Bay, Lord & Taylor, Saks Fifth Avenue, Saks OFF 5TH, Home Outfitters and HBC Digital. Richard Baker will continue as Governor and Executive Chairman and together he and Storch will compose the Office of the Chairman.

Hudson's Bay Company confirmed that it has signed a lease with Brookfield Property Partners L.P. to open a 85,000 square foot Saks Fifth Avenue store in Brookfield Place at 225 Liberty Street and a 55,000 square foot Saks OFF 5TH store at One Liberty Plaza in Lower Manhattan. In addition, HBC is leasing 400,000 square feet of office space, adjacent to the Saks Fifth Avenue store at Brookfield Place. This space will become the home office for the company's New York City based corporate associates.

Hudson's Bay Company and its wholly-owned subsidiary Saks Fifth Avenue announced plans to open a full-line Saks store in the heart of downtown Toronto at the Hudson's Bay flagship store at the corner of Queen Street and Yonge Street. The approximately 150,000 square-foot, multi-level Saks is planned to open in the fall of 2015 and will be co-located with the current Hudson's Bay store.

Hudson's Bay Company (TSX: HBC) ('HBC' or the 'Company') and Saks Incorporated (NYSE: SKS) ('Saks') announced that they have entered into a definitive merger agreement whereby HBC will acquire Saks for US$16.00 per share in an all-cash transaction valued at approximately US$2.9 billion, including debt. The transaction has been approved by each company's board of directors and is expected to close before the end of the calendar year, subject to approval by Saks shareholders, regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions.
