STC Patrick White Playwrights' Award Winner & Fellow Revealed

Kate Mulvany has been announced as the latest recipient of STC's Patrick White Playwrights' Fellowship at a special event at The Wharf on Friday 22 May. Now in its fifth year, the Fellowship is a position for an established playwright whose work has been produced professionally in Australia within the last four years. Mulvany receives $25,000 in recognition of her body of work and previous artistic achievements. As well as including a commission from STC which she will develop during the year-long tenure, the Fellowship provides opportunities for her to share her skills with other playwrights and artists.

'HOLLYWOOD AND BROADWAY' Set for Hollywood Fringe Festival

After its critically acclaimed run at the Hudson Theatres this past February/March, the Hotel Astor opens its doors once again to Gloria Swanson (played by Kat Brower) and Tallulah Bankhead (played by Olivia Choate) who both come out of retirement for the return of Hollywood and Broadway, Gloria & Tallulah Talk! for four performances as Teatro De La O makes its "Fringe" debut with the 2015 Hollywood Fringe Festival.

Photo Flash: First Look at Retro Productions' THE BUTTER AND EGG MAN

Retro Productions is celebrating their 10th anniversary with, The Butter and Egg Man by George S. Kaufman. Perhaps one of Kaufman's lesser known works, The Butter and Egg Man is a wonderful comedy about producing theater and was one of Kaufman's biggest Broadway successes when it opened at the Longacre Theatre in 1925. The production is directed by Ricardo Rust, who co-produced Retro Productions, An Appeal to the Woman of the House which was nominated for 3 New York Innovative Theater Awards and won an award for Heather E. Kanaku y El Tigre Releases Sophomore Album QUEMA QUEMA QUEMA Today

Peruvian 'wandering folk' beatniks Kanaku y El Tigre, release their sophomore (and first international) album, 'Quema Quema Quema', via the acclaimed Strut imprint in conjunction with Tiger's Milk Records. This anthemic, hook laden slice of electronic tinged indie-folk, direct from Lima, could very well become a soundtrack to the summer. The album will be out today, May 19, 2015.

BWW Reviews: Monsters Among Us at Mixed Magic Theatre's FRANKENSTEIN

There is a very famous episode of the classic TV show The Twilight Zone called 'The Monsters are Due on Maple Street.' The episode dramatizes the concepts of how and why people might in fact turn into monsters. It demands that the viewer ask 'who are the real monsters?' and 'is it us?' These sorts of questions about monsters and how they are created have been around for many years. One of the most famous, Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, is now receiving a new and fascinating adaptation at Mixed Magic Theatre.

IMAGINING BRAD Extends Through 7/25 at Theatre Asylum

IMAGINING BRAD, directed by Clare Carey (Aquarius, Coach), starring Sirena Irwin (I Love Lucy Live on Stage, SpongeBob Square Pants) and Sarah Randall Hunt (Unfinished Business, Chronic) announces an extension through July 25. The production will take a brief hiatus for Hollywood Fringe Festival then reopen on Thursday, July 9 at Theatre Asylum (6322 Santa Monica Blvd. Hollywood, CA 90038) and run Thursday, Friday and Saturday's at 8 PM through July 25, 2015.

Florida Grand Opera Welcomes New Board Members

The Board of Directors of Florida Grand Opera (FGO) recently announced the appointment of Carla Albarran and George Riggs III as its newest members. Additionally both Mrs. Albarran and Mr. Riggs have been selected to join the Board's Executive Committee, with Mrs. Albarran serving as the Assistant Secretary and Mr. Riggs serving as the Assistant Treasurer.

FST's 2015 Young Playwright's Festival Awards Ceremony Set for Tonight

FST is proud to announce the winning plays of this year's Young Playwright's Festival. Playwrights have been hard at work creating their own original scenes, characters, and dialogue. However, these playwrights are not what you might expect - that is, they are all students ranging from Kindergarten to 12th grade. FST is proud to announce that this year's winning plays have now been selected and are being presented in UNDER SIX which runs through May 22.
