Theatrical Sculptor Nino Novellino specializes in creating sculpture and costume armor for theatre, ballet, opera, and film. Costume armor was first developed for the original production of Man of La Mancha. Novellino talks about his work on the set of Cats, Sunset Boulevard, and the Green Goblin costume in Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark. From the sculpting shop, he explains the different processes used to recreate items in plastic for use onstage.

Wonderland, the new musical that reinvents 'Alice in Wonderland' for the 21st century, opened on Broadway April 17 following previews from March 21 at the Marquis Theatre. Janet Dacal, of In the Heights, plays a modern-day Manhattan mom named Alice, who sings a score by Frank Wildhorn and Jack Murphy. Three time Emmy Award winning choreographer Marguerite Derricks delves into how she got involved with the new take on Alice in Wonderland, and what audiences can expect from her versatile choreography. This July, two hundred apprentices from all over the country (as well as the UK and Canada) will head to the University of South Florida to participate in Broadway Theatre Project, an intense three-week training session in all things musical theatre. The apprentices, who range in age from 16-24, are taught acting, singing and dancing by industry professionals who have appeared on Broadway, in television and in major motion pictures. Tampa Bay-area alums who are now faculty members and will be returning to teach this summer (schedules permitting) include: Kelly King, currently the dance captain of the Radio City Rockettes, Monica Raymund, currently appearing in the TV show Lie to Me on Fox and Patrick Wilson, whose latest film Insidious is currently in theatres nationwide.

Special Effects Designer Gregory Meeh uses a vast array of technologies to build illusions for live stage productions. He has created pyrotechnic explosions and atmospheric effects such as rain, fire, and fog for Spamalot, Women on the Verge, and 110 in the Shade on Broadway. A special effect event like The Phantom of the Opera chandelier is comprised of many elements. Seen here are Treasure Island's simple yet creative effects, as well as Meeh's expertise with firearms (Les Miserables, Miss Saigon).
