In the midst of a busy career as working musician and educator, New York guitarist/composer Eric DiVito has finally carved out the time to make his recording debut as a leader. 'Breaking the Ice,' a quartet date co-produced by DiVito with Portland pianist/arranger Ezra Weiss and veteran jazz producer/promoter Todd Barkan, will be released on the Canadian Pioneer Jazz Collective (PJC) label on October 2.
Project/Object Announces Fall Tour Dates

The longest running Zappa repertoire group, Project/Object, returns to the road for a quick tour of the Northeast. The band will be joined by Zappa 's most beloved vocalists: Ike Willis and Ray White, who together and separately toured and recorded with Zappa from 1976-1988. Project/Object's long years of collaboration with Willis and White is testament to their desire to bring Zappa fans' favorite sidemen to the stage as often as possible. Project/Object is unique amongst Zappa tribute bands: they celebrate EVERY era of Zappa's music, not just selected periods.

Luna Stage initiates a new tradition in the Valley Arts District when it brings electric jazz and big band rock to its stages for the last weekend this month. Fans of arena rock, bebop, big bands and jam bands are all welcome to join some of New York's busiest studio musicians, composers, and teachers for two days of futuristic nostalgia. Afternoon events are free and each evening event is $20 for adults, $15 for students with ID.

Highlights of the expanded season include world premieres from today's most relevant companies and artists in dance, theater, and music from around the world; artistic partnerships with London's Menier Chocolate Factory, the Los Angeles Opera, and Shakespeare's Globe Theatre; the 4th Annual Westside Jazz Experience featuring stars such as Pat Metheny, Rickie Lee Jones, and the Fabulous Thunderbirds; a return of family programs including a hit from the Edinburgh Fringe Festival; and artists direct from Brazil, Cuba, Europe, and across the U.S.
