Surprise, surprise. It was an evening of 'who-knew?' for the 200-plus guests at the announcement of NJPAC's 2014-15 season in the nightclub-y Chase Room.

Saxophonist Joshua Redman Joins UT Jazz Orchestra Tonight

Born in Berkeley, California in the 1960s, Joshua Redman is the son of legendary saxophonist Dewey Redman and dancer Renee Shedroff. He is one of the most recognizable jazz saxophonists, as famous for his masterful straight-ahead post-bop improvisations as he is for his explorations of groove-based idioms. Redman won the prestigious Thelonious Monk Jazz Competition for saxophone in 1991, and has played alongside of many jazz icons including Jack DeJohnette, Charlie Haden, Joe Lovano, Pat Metheny, and Clark Terry.

Wells Fargo Center for the Arts Announces two New Performances

Today, Wells Fargo Center for the Arts announced two new performances to be presented at the Ruth Finley Person Theater (50 Mark West Springs Rd., Santa Rosa, CA). On Thursday, July 17 at 8 p.m., twenty-time Grammy winner Pat Metheny ('Last Train Home') will appear with multiple Grammy-winning singer and pianist Bruce Hornsby ('The Way It Is') in Campfire Tour 2014. Returning to Santa Rosa on Saturday, December 20, for two performances at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. is the Moscow Ballet in the holiday favorite Great Russian Nutcracker. Tickets for Campfire Tour 2014 are $75, $60 and $45. Tickets for Great Russian Nutcracker range in price from $34 - $74; VIP and Platinum ticket packages are available for $108 and $181, respectively. Tickets for both performances go on sale to the general public on Friday, April 18 at noon and may be purchased online at wellsfargocenterarts.org, by calling 707.546.3600 or in person at the box office at 50 Mark West Springs Road in Santa Rosa.

Pittsburgh Cultural Trust to Celebrate National Jazz Appreciation Month in April

The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust celebrates National Jazz Appreciation Month throughout April 2014 with performances by Grammy Award-winning musicians and iconic jazz performers. In addition to the special ticketed performances at Cabaret at Theater Square, the Trust continues its free BNY Mellon | Jazz Presents JazzLive series at Backstage Bar.

Jon Weber to Kick Off Harris Center Piano Jazz Series, 1/23-26

Jon Weber, a spectacular solo pianist, whose brilliantly crafted spontaneous orchestrations easily place him in the rarefied company of today's elite jazz musicians, has been praised by All About Jazz as " a virtuoso - pure and simple."
