Leontyne Price was the first performer on it. Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater danced on it. And 'Les Misérables' performed 216 shows on it, breaking the record for number of engagements at one theater stage - 11. After hosting 25 years of performances, Ordway Center for the Performing Arts is retiring its original stage floor and renovating it this summer.

The producers of the upcoming national tour of LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE: THE MUSICAL, with Melissa Gilbert as Ma, today announced a national partnership with Habitat for Humanity, the non-profit international organization dedicated to providing affordable housing to the poor and needy. The announcement was made at a Habitat build-site in the South Bronx at which Melissa Gilbert and fellow cast members helped Habitat volunteers build the seven-story complex which will house 12 families.

Notoriously scandalous British playwright Sarah Kane radically reworks Seneca's classical tragedy of incest and unrequited lust in the highly anticipated production of Red Letter Theater's Phaedra's Love, a brutal dark comedy exploring the themes of obsession, desire, and honesty. First debuted at the Gate, London in 1996, this regional premiere is directed and designed by Red Letter Theater Artistic Director David Hanzal, and features a host of some of the Twin Cities' favorite actors plus some wonderful new faces.

Susan Claassen, who stars as legendary Hollywood designer Edith Head in ?A Conversation With Edith Head? will be appearing in California in June. Following her engagement in London last summer, Ms. Claassen began her US tour by opening the 16th season at Houston?s Theater LaB with a sold out 5-performance engagement. Her US tour also included appearances in Tucson at the Invisible Theatre, at Arizona?s Tubac Center of the Arts, and, most recently, at the 35th Annual Symposium of the Costume Society of America in Tempe and Phoenix, AZ where she, once again, received rave review's. Symposium attendee Nena Ivon, Manager, Special Events, Saks Fifth Avenue, Chicago, said: ?A Conversation With Edith Head was outstanding and a fitting finale to the symposium?.

An all-star ensemble of performers will dance their way across the Ordway stage in a new production of 'Singin' in the Rain,' opening June 16 on the Ordway main stage. The production features some of the region's brightest talent including Michael Gruber as Don Lockwood, Christina Saffran Ashford as Kathy Selden, Tony Vierling as Cosmo, Austene Van as Lina Lamont, Richard Ooms as R.F. Simpson, and Claudia Wilkens as Dora Bailey.

Minnesota now has the chance to experience not one, but two productions of 'Grey Gardens,' the quirky story of two eccentric relatives of Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis. The HBO non-musical movie premieres on the cable channel tomorrow and the regional premiere of the Broadway hit, co-produced by Ordway and Park Square Theatre, continues its run at the Ordway through May 17.
