Melissa Errico to Star in KISS ME, KATE Concert at Bay Street This Summer

Bay Street Theater's Bay Street Under the Stars series presents FREE concert readings of plays and musicals in Mashashimuet Park every summer. This year, Bay Street will present Kiss Me, Kate with a book by Bella and Sam Spewack and music and lyrics by Cole Porter, on August 25 & 26 at 7pm.

New York City Opera's Season Opens with LA FANCIULLA DEL WEST

After a critically acclaimed 2016/2017 season, New York City Opera is again at the forefront of New York's cultural season, opening its 2017/2018 season on September 6, 2017 at 7:30PM with a new production of Puccini's La fanciulla del West directed by Ivan Stefanutti with James Meena conducting the New York City Opera Orchestra and Chorus. Soprano Kristin Sampson returns to City Opera to sing the role of Minnie, joined by tenor Jonathan Burton as Dick Johnson in his City Opera debut, and bass-baritone Kevin Short as Jack Rance.

American Composers Orchestra Announces 2017-2018 Season - DREAMSCAPES

American Composers Orchestra (ACO) announces its complete 2017-2018 season, Dreamscapes, under the leadership of Artistic Director Derek Bermel, Music Director George Manahan, and President Edward Yim, featuring ten world, U.S., and New York premieres by a diverse set of composers. ACO continues its concerts at Carnegie Hall's Zankel Hall (December 8, 2017 and April 6, 2018) while expanding its presence in New York to include performances at Jazz at Lincoln Center (November 7, 2017) and as part of the 2018 PROTOTYPE Festival (January 12-14, 2018). ACO continues to take its commitment to fostering new work beyond the stage in its annual Underwood New Music Readings (June 21 and 22, 2018) for emerging composers, now in its 27th year, and through EarShot, the National Orchestra Composition Discovery Network, which brings the Readings experience to orchestras across the country.

Boundless Theatre Company to Give Maria Irene Fornes' MUD A Rare Revival

Boundless Theatre Company will present a revival of Maria Irene Fornes' MUD - the first time this seminal drama by the 9-time Obie winner has been seen in New York since 1999. The production will be directed by Elena Araoz. Previews begin October 5 at Teatro Circulo in the East Village with press opening slated for October 12.

Doug Varone and Dancers to Perform at 2017 Jacob's Pillow

New York City's famed Doug Varone and Dancers will perform at Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival at the Ted Shawn Theater, 358 George Carter Road, Becket, MA 01223, from August 2-6, 2017 with performances Wednesday-Saturday at 8pm; Saturday and Sunday at 2pm. Lincoln Center's Mostly Mozart Festival 2017 Announces Opening Lineup

Lincoln Center's Mostly Mozart Festival , one of New York's premier summer performance series, kicks off its 51st season on July 25. Among the highlights in the first two weeks are a special opening concert led by Louis Langrée, Renée and Robert Belfer Music Director, featuring traditional and indigenous songs from Mozart's time; a choral presentation by Les Arts Florissants; and guest conductors Edward Gardner and Gianandrea Noseda; festival debuts by more than 10 artists, including Kit Armstrong, Janai Brugger, Jennifer Johnson Cano, S? Percussion, Beatrice Rana, Ksenija Sidorova, and the Young People's Chorus of New York City; and the New York premiere of David Lang's concerto for percussion, man made. Composer/Librettist Fellowships Awarded for Two-Year Opera Training

AOP (American Opera Projects) and Composers & the Voice Artistic Director Steven Osgood have selected six composers and three librettists to receive fellowships for its upcoming ninth season of Composers & the Voice. The 2017-2019 season will train, and present new works from, composers Matthew Browne, Scott Ordway, Frances Pollock, Pamela Stein Lynde, Liliya Ugay, and Amber Vistein and librettists Laura Barati, Kim Davies, and Sokunthary Svay. The primary focus of Composers & the Voice is to give emerging composers and librettists experience working collaboratively with singers on writing for the voice and contemporary opera stage.

New York City's famed Doug Varone and Dancers will perform Lux in 2017 Victory Dance, presented by The New 42nd Street and The New Victory Theater, todays, July 13 & 20, 2017 at 7pm at The Duke on 42nd Street (229 West 42nd Street).

Lembit Beecher Debuts SOPHIA'S FOREST 9/8- 9

Former Opera Philadelphia Composer in Residence Lembit Beecher debuts his latest work, Sophia's Forest, this September. This inventive chamber opera scored for five voices, custom-built sound sculptures, string quartet and percussion will premiere September 8 and 9 at 8 p.m. in the Black Box Theater at the URBN Center Annex at Drexel University, 3401 Filbert Street. Canadian playwright Hannah Moscovitch wrote the libretto. Tickets cost $25 for General Admission and $15 for Students and Seniors.
