FirstWorks, a non-profit arts organization, today announced the FirstWorks Decade Bash: a weekend of events to celebrate their 10th anniversary of connecting world-class arts with audiences of all ages throughout the region. Taking place from September 18-21, 2014, the anniversary celebration features stellar performers from Australia, Italy, Morocco, and Rhode Island – and includes the FirstWorks 10th Anniversary Gala on September 18, a free FirstWorks Urban Carnevale downtown on September 20, and in-depth arts-learning workshops in the community on September 19 and 21. The first retrospective in 25 years of work by Garry Winogrand (1928–1984)—the renowned photographer of New York City and of American life from the 1950s through the early 1980s—will open at The Metropolitan Museum of Art on June 27, 2014.
