THE ANAHID SOFIAN DANCE COMPANY Celebrates 35th Anniversary with Gala, Today

Over 25 fabulous dancers and musicians will join Anahid Sofian Dance Company in a rousing retrospective of signature works from the Near and Middle East in celebration of the Company's 35th Anniversary. The program will present both traditional dances and those inspired by cultures of Morocco, Egypt, Turkey, Persia, Armenia, Greece and Uzbekistan, as well as numerous renditions of Danse Orientale. The program is a dazzling blend of different styles, both old and new, traditional and theatrical. Two performances, June 28 & 29 at MMAC, 246 West 60th Street, NYC.

FirstWorks to Celebrate 10th Anniversary This Fall

FirstWorks, a non-profit arts organization, today announced the FirstWorks Decade Bash: a weekend of events to celebrate their 10th anniversary of connecting world-class arts with audiences of all ages throughout the region. Taking place from September 18-21, 2014, the anniversary celebration features stellar performers from Australia, Italy, Morocco, and Rhode Island – and includes the FirstWorks 10th Anniversary Gala on September 18, a free FirstWorks Urban Carnevale downtown on September 20, and in-depth arts-learning workshops in the community on September 19 and 21. The FirstWorks Decade Bash officially kicks off FirstWorks' 2014-15 season, a year of arts programming which concludes in June 2015 with the next FirstWorks Festival On The Plaza, co-presented with the City of Providence.

Nancy Graves' First Exhibition at Mitchell-Innes & Nash Closes This Friday, 6/27

Mitchell-Innes & Nash is delighted to announce its representation of the work of Nancy Graves through The Nancy Graves Foundation. The gallery's first Graves exhibition focuses on works depicting flora and fauna in media ranging from gouache and watercolor on paper, to painting, to bronze polychromed sculpture. The show presents work from the 1970s to the 1990s, and is on view through June 27, 2014.

Foothill Music Theatre Takes a Trip to the SOUTH PACIFIC, 7/24-8/10

Multi-award winning Foothill Music Theatre presents the epic Broadway Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II musical, SOUTH PACIFIC. Winner of 10 Tony Awards and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, this ground-breaking musical based on James A. Michener's 1927 Pulitzer Prize-winning book Tales of the South Pacific, features such iconic hits as Some Enchanted Evening, Younger Than Springtime, There Is Nothing Like a Dame, Bali Ha'i, and I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Outa My Hair. 14th INTERNATIONAL ARCHITECTURE EXHIBITION to Feature Collateral Event TIME SPACE EXISTENCE, Now thru Nov 23

The 14th International Architecture Exhibition - La Biennale di Venezia, which opens to the public from today, June 7 through November 23, 2014, will feature a collateral event titled TIME SPACE EXISTENCE. The Met Museum Presents GARRY WINOGRAND, 6/27-9/21

The first retrospective in 25 years of work by Garry Winogrand (1928–1984)—the renowned photographer of New York City and of American life from the 1950s through the early 1980s—will open at The Metropolitan Museum of Art on June 27, 2014. Garry Winogrand brings together more than 175 of the artist's iconic images, a trove of unseen prints, and even Winogrand's famed series of photographs made at the Metropolitan Museum in 1969 when the Museum celebrated its centennial.
