The Bay Area's hottest holiday ticket THE CHRISTMAS BALLET makes its annual sassy return with a perfect gift for audience members of all ages. Smuin Ballet's snow-filled extravaganza boasts everything from ballet, tap, and jazz to a wealth of other dances and tunes drawn from holiday traditions from around the world. Called 'an ode to holiday mischief' by 7x7 Magazine and 'an effervescent bauble' by the San Francisco Chronicle, this enormously popular yuletide celebration includes both Classic Christmas and Cool Christmas, combining beautiful and traditional performances with charming, humorous, and sexy dance pieces. The 2010 Edition includes two world premieres from acclaimed Choreographer in Residence Amy Seiwert and Smuin Ballet Master Amy London to accompany time-honored favorites. Single tickets ($20, $49, $59, and $62) are available through the respective theaters.

Thomas Z Shepard, the renowned cast recording producer, saw the acclaimed musical and was extremely impressed. This week he produced a 5 song demo recording with full orchestra and cast members featuring Andy Mientus. Next week the musical has been invited to Florida for the Mainstreet Musicals Festival for presentations with Hal Linden. This Sunday the show will be presented with 2010 NYMY Awards For Excellence: EXCELLENCE IN OVERALL DESIGN - Shine! A multi-talented cast of 19 made this one of the largest of the festival productions. The seminar is part of Virginia's statewide arts event, MINDS WIDE OPEN: Virginia Celebrates Women in the Arts, co-sponsored by Richmond Ballet, The State Ballet of Virginia, and the CenterStage Foundation and will be held April 28, 2010 in the Carpenter Theatre at Richmond CenterStage in Virginia.
