Ready your light sabers Sarasota, Asolo Rep is bringing Charles Ross' wildly entertaining One-Man Star Wars Trilogy to town, on December 28 and 29 at 5 and 8 p.m.

Asolo Repertory Theatre today announced further details and pricing for special concert, An Intimate Evening with Frank Wildhorn & Friends. The starry concert features musical theatre legend and Bonnie & Clyde composer Frank Wildhorn at the piano, starring Rob Evan and Laura Osnes, with Marlyn Sanchez, and Jack Murphy; singing songs from Jekyll & Hyde, The Scarlet Pimpernel, Wonderland, Bonnie & Clyde and more.

Asolo Repertory Theatre's production of Bonnie & Clyde opened on November 19. Jay Handelman reports in today's Herald-Tribune that the show is heading next to Broadway in August of 2011. The article reports that: 'We're planning to go to Broadway in August. We're going to Broadway, absolutely,' said Jerry Frankel, a veteran Broadway producer who is partnered with Jeffrey Richards. They are represented on Broadway by 'Bloody Blood Andrew Jackson,' 'The Merchant of Venice' with Al Pacino and 'A Life in the Theatre.'

Asolo Repertory Theatre today announced adding a new title to its Asolo Rep Extras series, An Intimate Evening with Frank Wildhorn & Friends. The starry concert features composer Frank Wildhorn at the piano along with some of Broadway's finest voices. Further details will be announced soon. The show, to be held on December 21st at 8 p.m. in the Mertz Theatre, replaces the Holiday concert originally scheduled. Details and prices will soon be released latter this month. Asolo_Rep_20010101 Asolo Rep unveils Asolo Rep Extras, a series of one or two performance shows featuring talented acts from across the United States. The line-up includes the return of A Tale of Two Cities star James Barbour, Broadway's Barbra Russell and Ron Sharpe, Charles Ross in One Man Star Wars, Second City's Fair and Unbalanced, and John Epperson as Lypsinka in The Passion of the Crawford. The shows enhance Asolo Rep's 2010-11 season of full run productions already announced.

Asolo Repertory Theatre announces it will begin using leading edge smart phone technology, Microsoft TAGS, to engage patrons. The theatre is joins other Sarasota companies and non-profits to participate in TagSRQ, an area economic development initiative designed to drive new business via mobile phones. Patrons can look for Asolo Rep TAGS on all 2010-2011 materials.

Asolo Rep Managing Director Linda M. DiGabriele announced today the departure of Development Director Deborah Ann Trimble. Ms. Trimble, who hasheld the senior staff position since 2005, is relocating with her family to California in September 2010 to assume a similar position with La Jolla Playhouse.

Asolo Rep has partnered with Community Haven, Easter Seals of Southwest Florida, Bayshore High School and the Oak Park School to expand the acclaimed Kaleidoscope program, which has for more than 15 years offered a specialized summer program of musical theatre workshops for developmentally disabled adults and teens. These partnerships are an important component of new Kaleidoscope program enhancements designed to expand services and broaden participation.
