Asolo Rep continues its winter rep season and the fifth and final year of its American Character Project with THE ORIGINALIST, Charles MacArthur Award-winner John Strand's gripping political masterpiece that spotlights the late polarizing judicial titan, Justice Antonin Scalia.

Asolo Rep kicks off its winter repertory season with THE GREAT SOCIETY, Pulitzer Prize-winner Robert Schenkkan's gripping political drama that chronicles the second chapter of Lyndon Baines Johnson's presidency. Asolo Rep is proud to be the only theatre in the country granted the rights to produce THE GREAT SOCIETY during the 2016-17 season. The sequel to last season's box office record-breaking production of All the Way will be directed by Nicole A. Watson. THE GREAT SOCIETY previews January 11 and 12, opens January 13 and runs in rotating repertory through April 2 in the Mertz Theatre, located in the FSU Center for the Performing Arts.

Asolo Repertory Theatre has announced its 2016-17 Board officers and new members.

Asolo Rep presents the first Inside Asolo Rep of the season today, November 9 at 11am. This insightful panel discussion will feature GUYS AND DOLLS Director Josh Rhodes, Lighting Designer Paul Miller and Set Designer Lee Savage. The artists will share their creative processes and what it takes to bring this iconic masterpiece to life.

Asolo Repertory Theatre will proudly partner with the Charles and Margery Barancik Foundation to support several key components of the theatre's 2016-17 season and its relationship with the FSU/Asolo Conservatory for Actor Training. The Barancik Foundation's $100,000 grant will support Asolo Rep's highly anticipated mainstage season, its Youth Access to the Arts student matinee series, the 2016 Shakespeare Tour of The Tragedy of Hamlet, which will reach 14,000 students and patrons throughout the state of Florida, and more.

The Old Globe today announced the remaining productions in its 2017 Summer Season, including a brand-new comedy, Ken Ludwig's Robin Hood!, and a Summer Shakespeare Festival lineup featuring Robert Sean Leonard in the title role of the towering history play Richard II, directed by Erica Schmidt. Asolo Repertory Theatre proudly presents an FSU/Asolo Conservatory for Actor Training touring production of THE TRAGEDY OF HAMLET. This brand new production, which will be presented during the 400th anniversary year of Shakespeare's death, is adapted and directed by Justin Lucero, director of the FSU/Asolo Conservatory's hit 2015 production of The Liar. This seventh annual educational touring production, THE TRAGEDY OF HAMLET, will tour schools and community venues throughout Sarasota and the state of Florida, from Tallahassee to Miami, from September 27 through November 22, 2016. There will be a special performance for educators, press, and the public on Today, September 30 at 6pm in the Cook Theatre, located in the FSU Center for the Performing Arts.

The Old Globe today announced the first production of its 2017 Summer Season: Guys and Dolls, a musical fable of Broadway. Based on the stories and characters by Damon Runyon, with music and lyrics by Frank Loesser and book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows, Guys and Dolls will be directed and choreographed by Josh Rhodes, returning to the Globe after the great successes of Ken Ludwig's Baskerville: A Sherlock Holmes Mystery, which he directed, and Bright Star, which he choreographed.
