For the opening performances of their 2017-18 season, choreographer Miro Magloire will present his New Chamber Ballet in the world premiere of a work to J.S. Bach's prelude and fugue in F sharp Minor, September 22 & 23, 8 PM, in City Center Studio 5, 130 West 56 Street. The new work was commissioned by Richard and Leslie Curtis. Known for his daring choices and extensive background in music, Magloire will also present his ensemble in repertory works by Mozart, Berio, Beat Furrer, and Magloire himself.
Choreographer Miro Magloire's New Chamber Ballet will bring its 2016-17 series to an end with performances June 10 at 8 PM and June 11 at 7 PM, and a Magloire premiere to John Cage's 'Cheap Imitation' for violin. The Cornelia Street Cafe began as an artist bistro and it has remained so for nearly 40 years. It is a wonderful and welcoming venue for artists of every conceivable genre. On Sunday, August 21 at 8:30pm the Cafe launched a 3-Day Classical Music Festival that began with violinist Gregory Harrington and pianist Matei Varga (piano).
Since premiering twelve years ago, Miro Magloire's New Chamber Ballet has commissioned and presented over 100 new works. Fifty of these works have been created by Mr. Magloire himself. In addition to his duties as choreographer and artistic director he is also an award winning composer - and at one time the most beloved classroom musician in the city - which goes a long way towards explaining his special appreciation for music. All of his concerts are accompanied by accomplished musicians; the fantastic pianist Melody Fader and violinist Door Na performed for this season closing run.
